  • • Crusoe Energy Systems is at the forefront of revolutionizing energy and intelligence through sustainable technology, accelerating the abundance of energy and the power of AI. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SDN Development Engineer specializing in the Management Plane to join our innovative team in San Francisco, CA. This role is pivotal in building the software infrastructure that enables "Closed-Loop Automation" for our global network fabric, a critical component for optimizing performance and ensuring unparalleled availability.
  • • As a Senior SDN Development Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated software systems that manage and control our advanced network infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on creating the intelligent layer that processes vast amounts of telemetry data in real-time and dynamically steers network traffic to achieve peak efficiency and resilience. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies at the intersection of AI, cloud infrastructure, and sustainable energy.
  • • You will be responsible for architecting and implementing high-throughput telemetry pipelines. This involves leveraging modern protocols and technologies such as gNMI (gRPC Network Management Interface), gRPC, and P4-Runtime to ingest network state and performance data from a global network. The ability to design scalable and efficient data ingestion services is crucial for this role.
  • • A core aspect of your work will involve developing sophisticated Traffic Engineering (TE) logic. You will write the algorithms and build the controllers that interface with Segment Routing technologies, including SRv6 (Segment Routing IPv6) and SR-MPLS (Segment Routing Multiprotocol Label Switching). This logic will enable the dynamic rerouting of traffic based on real-time link health, congestion, and other performance metrics, ensuring optimal network performance under varying conditions.
  • • Data modeling will be a key responsibility, where you will architect and maintain structured data models using YANG. This ensures a consistent and reliable "Single Source of Truth" for all network state information, facilitating easier management, automation, and troubleshooting across the entire fabric.
  • • You will also be responsible for developing a robust API ecosystem. This includes creating internal RESTful and gRPC APIs that allow other services and applications to programmatically query network topology, performance metrics, and state. This API-driven approach is essential for enabling seamless integration and automation within our broader infrastructure.
  • • A significant challenge and opportunity in this role is optimizing performance at scale. You will focus on enhancing Go (Golang) and Python services to efficiently handle high-cardinality time-series data. The goal is to process this data without introducing any latency into the critical management and control loops, ensuring real-time responsiveness.
  • • This role requires a deep understanding of network fundamentals, particularly the interplay between the Management Plane, Control Plane (e.g., BGP, IS-IS), and Forwarding Plane. You will apply this knowledge to build robust and efficient network management solutions.
  • • You will work with modern observability tools and practices, including hands-on experience with Time-Series Databases (TSDBs) like Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, or InfluxDB, and utilizing OpenTelemetry for standardized instrumentation.
  • • Experience with cloud-native tools is essential, including deploying management microservices using Kubernetes and implementing message bus architectures with technologies like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • • This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a rapidly growing, well-funded technology company that is making a significant impact on the future of AI and sustainable computing. You will be part of a dynamic team driving innovation in a critical technological domain.
