• As the Senior Security Engineer, you will be the inaugural dedicated security professional for our Sophea platform. This pivotal role is designed to establish security as a fundamental engineering capability. Your responsibilities will encompass hardening our cloud infrastructure, specifically addressing and securing AI-centric attack surfaces, seamlessly integrating automated security measures into our development lifecycle, and empowering our engineering teams to deploy solutions rapidly and with absolute confidence. It is crucial to understand that this position is fundamentally hands-on and engineering-focused, rather than centered on compliance frameworks or policy documentation.
• Your primary responsibilities will involve conducting comprehensive security assessments across our infrastructure and services, subsequently developing a prioritized roadmap for remediation of identified vulnerabilities. You will be instrumental in hardening our AWS and Kubernetes environments, with a keen focus on robust IAM policies, stringent network segmentation, effective workload isolation strategies, and secure secrets management practices.
• A significant aspect of your role will be dedicated to securing AI-specific attack surfaces. This includes implementing defenses against prompt injection attacks, ensuring the secure handling of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) within our Large Language Model (LLM) pipelines, and mitigating potential data leakage risks associated with model interactions. You will also play a key role in embedding automated security checks directly into our Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. This involves integrating tools for dependency scanning, container image vulnerability analysis, static and dynamic code analysis, and secrets detection to ensure security is a proactive, built-in component.
• Furthermore, you will be tasked with designing and implementing secure-by-default patterns for critical areas such as inter-service communication, authentication mechanisms, and data handling protocols. Building resilient incident response capabilities will also be a core function, encompassing the development of effective detection mechanisms, alerting systems, response workflows, and thorough post-incident review processes. Ultimately, you will collaborate closely with our engineering teams, acting as a security partner to enhance the overall security posture of our platform without introducing unnecessary friction or becoming a bottleneck to development velocity.

🎯 Requirements

• 6-10+ years of professional security engineering experience in production environments.
• Deep hands-on expertise in cloud security (AWS strongly preferred) and container/Kubernetes security.
• Strong application security skills: securing APIs, microservices, auth flows, and data pipelines.
• Experience with automated security tooling in CI/CD (SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, container scanning).
• Offensive security mindset: ability to think like an attacker, identify non-obvious vulnerabilities, and validate defenses.
• Track record of building or significantly maturing security programs, not just operating existing ones.
