đź“‹ Description

  • • Join AgileBits Inc. (1Password), a rapidly growing leader in the cybersecurity space, as a Senior Security Engineer on our Corporate Security team. We are at the forefront of building the foundation for a safe and productive digital future, pioneering innovative solutions like Extended Access Management and securing over 180,000 businesses worldwide. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the digital safety of millions and work alongside a team of curious, driven individuals in a fast-paced, dynamic, and remote-first environment.
  • • As a Senior Security Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing and implementing our identity and access management (IAM) solutions across the organization. You will collaborate closely with IT Engineering and fellow Corporate Security team members to fortify authentication mechanisms, refine access controls, streamline identity lifecycle management, and ensure secure access to our critical internal and SaaS systems. This role is designed for hands-on technical engagement, offering ample opportunities to automate and optimize identity workflows, and to expand your expertise alongside seasoned engineers.
  • • You will be instrumental in leading medium-to-large scale identity security initiatives. This involves transforming loosely defined or ambiguous problem statements into well-scoped, executable projects. Your ownership will span the entire project lifecycle, from initial problem framing and technical design through to implementation, successful rollout, and ongoing operational management. This leadership aspect is crucial for driving impactful security improvements.
  • • A key responsibility will be to act as a technical leader within the Identity Security squad. This includes contributing to the definition and refinement of the Corporate Security roadmap, ensuring our identity strategies align with broader business objectives and security posture. You will also be responsible for designing and implementing robust, scalable IAM solutions, encompassing authentication, granular access controls, efficient identity lifecycle management, and secure access protocols for both internal infrastructure and external SaaS applications.
  • • You will proactively identify opportunities to enhance the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of our identity platforms. This will be achieved through the strategic application of automation, the adoption of configuration-as-code principles, and the implementation of industry-leading operational best practices. Your efforts will directly contribute to a more resilient and efficient security infrastructure.
  • • Close partnership with IT Engineering's Identity team is essential. You will collaborate to ensure alignment on identity architecture, refine lifecycle processes, and clearly define platform ownership, fostering a cohesive approach to identity management.
  • • You will also work cross-functionally with Procurement and Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) teams. This collaboration is vital for ensuring our identity security solutions seamlessly integrate with vendor onboarding processes, meet stringent compliance requirements, and effectively manage the organization's overall risk posture.
  • • As a technical leader, you will provide guidance and support to other engineers within the Identity Security squad. This includes conducting design reviews, offering constructive feedback, and engaging in collaborative problem-solving to elevate the team's collective expertise and output.
  • • You will actively participate in security audits, tabletop exercises, and identity-related incident response activities. Your unique identity-focused perspective will be invaluable in strengthening our broader Security Operations capabilities and ensuring comprehensive security coverage.
  • • A significant aspect of this role involves acting as 'customer zero' – rigorously testing and dogfooding security and identity products internally. Your experience and actionable feedback will be critical in refining both internal workflows and enhancing the value delivered to our external customers.
  • • You will contribute to raising the bar for maintainability, observability, and operational excellence by identifying and addressing gaps in quality, testing, and documentation across our identity systems.
  • • Strong collaboration and communication skills are paramount, enabling you to effectively align cross-functional partners—including IT Engineering, Procurement, GRC, and Detection & Response teams—on priorities, potential risks, and project timelines.
  • • You will demonstrate a commitment to mentoring peers, actively sharing best practices, and fostering a culture of shared ownership and continuous improvement within the team and the broader security organization.
  • • This role is a remote opportunity, open to candidates located in the United States and Canada, allowing you to work from your home country and contribute to a globally distributed team.
  • • Embrace the future of technology by actively learning and applying AI best practices, identifying opportunities to leverage AI in meaningful ways, and driving innovative solutions in your daily work. At 1Password, we are committed to using cutting-edge technology to achieve our mission, and this role is integral to that vision.
