Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Anduril Australia, you will be at the forefront of developing and sustaining the critical software delivery toolchains that power next-generation autonomous systems. Your role is pivotal in enabling the rapid, secure, and continuous delivery of advanced capabilities, ensuring Anduril maintains its competitive edge, even in the most demanding national security scenarios and across diverse classification domains.
  • • You will architect, design, implement, and support these sophisticated toolchains, which are essential for the development of unmanned systems, including the Extra Large Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (XL-AUV) Program. This involves a deep dive into modern software development, delivery, and sustainment practices, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in defense technology.
  • • Your responsibilities will span the entire ICT infrastructure stack. This includes managing cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, and VMWare ESXi, ensuring robust and scalable infrastructure.
  • • You will also be instrumental in managing operating systems, including NixOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat, and Microsoft Windows, ensuring they are optimized for performance, security, and reliability.
  • • At the orchestration layer, you will work with cutting-edge technologies like OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform, building and maintaining the systems that deploy and manage our applications.
  • • You will manage and evolve modern ICT systems at the application layer, including platforms like Github Enterprise and CircleCI, as well as various proprietary applications integral to our development process.
  • • A key contribution will be to our Nix managed build and deployment systems, leveraging declarative configuration to ensure consistency and reproducibility across all environments.
  • • While the focus is on software, you will also contribute to the management of ICT hardware systems in a limited capacity, understanding the interplay between software and hardware in our complex systems.
  • • Security is paramount. You will be a strong advocate for and implementer of best-practice security measures throughout Anduril’s software toolchain, safeguarding our critical technologies and data.
  • • You will collaborate closely within a multi-disciplinary software team, bringing your expertise to bear on challenging problems. This includes acting as a mentor for Software Engineers from diverse backgrounds, fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing.
  • • You will take ownership of specific software services, acting as the technical owner. This involves engaging with stakeholders, defining requirements, managing roadmaps, coordinating teams, and overseeing design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
  • • Your ability to think holistically about software-enabled capabilities, from design through to sustainment, and across the entire software stack, will be crucial for success.
  • • You will be expected to continuously learn and grow, adapting to new technologies and challenges, while also effectively mentoring junior team members to build overall team cohesion and capacity.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of defense technology by building the foundational tools that enable rapid innovation and deployment of autonomous systems. You will be working on cutting-edge projects with a mission-driven team dedicated to national security.
  • • The Sydney-based team is focused on developing advanced unmanned systems for subsurface and other domains, requiring a high degree of autonomy and long endurance. Your contributions will directly impact the capabilities delivered to our customers, ensuring they have the most advanced technology available.
  • • You will be empowered to make significant technical decisions and drive the adoption of new tools and processes that enhance developer productivity and system reliability.
  • • This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment and is passionate about building robust, scalable, and secure systems that have a real-world impact.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • • Proven experience in a senior role focused on the delivery of a software and/or hardware system with a mature software delivery, security, and operations capability.
  • • Demonstrated experience with the design, implementation, and operation of horizontally scaled cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, VMWare).
  • • Strong experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems.
  • • Capacity to work holistically on software-enabled capabilities across the entire software stack and lifecycle (design, implementation, operation, sustainment).
  • • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Comprehensive medical insurance premiums covered for you and your dependents in Australia.
  • • Life and disability insurance for all employees.
  • • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) plans, including a holiday hiatus in December.
  • • Access to free mental health resources 24/7, including therapy and life coaching.
