📋 Description

• Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Azure) at MLabs is a pivotal role responsible for architecting and scaling a secure, production-grade infrastructure foundation on Azure to support a high-growth distributed systems platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and enterprise readiness for complex customer workloads.
• The role bridges product vision and technical execution by translating ambiguous requirements into structured, actionable infrastructure plans, driving operational excellence across a global ecosystem through automation, observability, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and deploying secure, scalable Azure infrastructure using Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for repeatable, automated deployments across development, staging, and production environments.
• The engineer will build and optimize platform services, APIs, and integrations to extend core system capabilities, ensuring feature parity with other cloud environments in the organization’s multi-cloud ecosystem.
• They will partner closely with engineering, security, and product teams to deliver enterprise-ready infrastructure solutions, providing Tier 2 support for customer deployments while driving improvements in system reliability, observability, and incident response.
• The role requires proactive identification and mitigation of risks in distributed systems, including implementing high-availability patterns, fault tolerance mechanisms, and performance optimization strategies.
• The engineer will establish and refine CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure lifecycle management, ensuring seamless integration with application delivery workflows and enabling rapid, safe releases.
• They will contribute to defining and enforcing security best practices across Azure networking, identity, compute, and storage services, aligning with compliance standards for enterprise environments.
• The role involves mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement within the platform team.
• Success in the first 6–12 months is measured by achieving full production readiness of the Azure environment, enabling scalable and secure customer deployments, and attaining feature parity with other supported cloud platforms.
• The engineer will gain deep expertise in modern cloud-native infrastructure practices, including advanced Terraform usage, distributed systems design, and observability-driven operations, positioning them as a leader in cloud platform engineering.
• They will have the opportunity to shape the long-term technical direction of MLabs’ infrastructure, influencing architecture decisions that impact product scalability, reliability, and customer trust on a global scale.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven track record designing and building production-grade systems specifically on the Azure stack, with deep expertise in Azure networking, compute, identity, security, and storage services.
• Advanced proficiency with Terraform at production scale, including module design, state management, and integration with CI/CD pipelines for automated infrastructure lifecycle management.
• Professional experience in Go and/or Python for developing automation tools, operators, or platform extensions, combined with a strong background in distributed systems, high-availability architectures, or platform engineering.
• Strong technical communication skills with the ability to translate complex architectural concepts for both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders, coupled with a high-ownership mindset and bias for action.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration, observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana), and workflow/orchestration platforms (Argo, Spacelift) is preferred but not required.
