📋 Description

• As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer on Kraken’s Growth team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of the infrastructure powering user acquisition, onboarding, and engagement initiatives—directly supporting Kraken’s mission to accelerate global crypto adoption and financial inclusion.
• You will partner with cross-functional development teams to manage and optimize infrastructure, strengthen CI/CD pipelines, and drive operational excellence across distributed systems, enabling faster, more secure releases and improved service resilience for millions of users worldwide.
• The Growth business unit at Kraken is responsible for building and scaling the experiences that expand the user base, and you will be embedded within a high-impact, fully remote team operating across Americas timezones (PST–EST–LATAM), collaborating with engineers, QA, and product managers to streamline development and release cycles.
• You will maintain and troubleshoot GitLab CI pipelines, manage infrastructure using Nomad, Hashistack (Consul, Vault), Terraform, and databases (SQL and NoSQL), while ensuring systems are observable, performant, and resilient through proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
• Your work will include building tooling, automation, and dashboards to enhance observability, participating in incident response and post-incident reviews to improve system resilience, and consulting teams on best practices for performance, monitoring, and alerting—empowering developers to ship with confidence.
• You will support a fully distributed team across multiple timezones, providing operational support in staging and production environments, debugging complex distributed systems issues, and contributing to a culture of reliability and continuous improvement rooted in Kraken’s crypto-first values.
• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in modern SRE practices, infrastructure-as-code, cloud-native orchestration (Nomad, Docker, Kubernetes), and observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana), while gaining exposure to high-scale crypto trading platforms and financial systems operating under stringent security and compliance requirements.
• You will have the opportunity to influence architectural decisions, advocate for reliability as a shared responsibility, and grow into a technical leader who bridges engineering and operations—helping Kraken scale its mission-critical services with resilience, speed, and integrity.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) role
• Strong experience managing infrastructure with Consul, Vault, and Terraform
• Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases and experience operating them in production
• Proficient in Git source control and CI/CD configuration, particularly GitLab CI
• Deep understanding of monitoring and alerting systems, preferably Prometheus and Grafana
• Ability to debug complex issues involving distributed systems, networks, and Linux operating systems
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Nomad; Kubernetes a plus)
• Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Go
• Self-starter with ability to thrive while working independently and remotely in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and switch context between projects
• Interest in security and consideration of security implications in operational decisions
