We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Software Developer (backend) to contribute to our award-winning product development roadmap and accelerate innovation in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. • In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of critical backend systems. Your contributions will span a wide array of challenging and impactful projects, from building sophisticated user-facing product features and designing novel strategies for answering complex tax questions, to implementing robust new data pipelines for integrating additional content and developing advanced search algorithms. You will also extend our internal data-mesh infrastructure, contributing to the scalability and efficiency of our platform.
• You will be expected to challenge yourself daily, taking ownership of the design, planning, and delivery of new software products, capabilities, and features. A substantial portion of your time will involve hands-on coding, while simultaneously leading and mentoring other developers to ensure the successful delivery of mission-critical projects. We operate in an iterative and incremental fashion, consistently unlocking customer value and driving tangible business outcomes.
• A core aspect of this role involves coaching and mentoring fellow developers in the craft of writing high-quality, maintainable code. This includes fostering a strong understanding of well-written automated tests and nurturing the long-term health and stability of the systems we build. Your ability to provide impactful feedback in an empathetic and constructive manner will be crucial in elevating our engineering standards, tools, and practices.

• This is a remote position, requiring applicants to be within driving distance of Toronto for 1-2 in-person meetings per quarter. All candidates must be eligible to work in Canada. 🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of demonstrable backend software development experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with TypeScript.
• Proven experience leading significant software initiatives involving multiple developers.

• Demonstrated rigor in work approach and an insatiable desire to learn.
