📋 Description

• • Shape the future of progressive political tech. As a Senior Software Engineer at Scale to Win, you will architect and ship the systems that power millions of voter contacts for campaigns up and down the ballot—from local school boards to presidential races. Your code will directly influence elections, policy, and the direction of the progressive movement.
• • Own the full lifecycle of product development. You will take ideas from whiteboard sketches to production deployments, writing clean, tested, and scalable code in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Go. You’ll design RESTful and GraphQL APIs, optimize PostgreSQL queries that handle tens of millions of records, and build event-driven pipelines that process real-time texting and dialing data.
• • Lead technical strategy for two flagship products. Scale to Win Text is a dual-mode (shortcode + longcode) platform that sends and receives 100M+ messages per cycle while staying compliant with carrier and FEC regulations. The Scale to Win Dialer is a predictive dialer that places 10M+ calls per month with sub-second connection times. You will decide when to refactor, when to scale horizontally, and when to adopt new cloud services to keep both platforms ahead of the curve.
• • Mentor and level-up a fully-remote engineering team. We are 100 % distributed across U.S. time zones. You will conduct architecture reviews, pair program, and run weekly “tech talks” to share knowledge on everything from WebSockets to Kubernetes autoscaling. Your leadership will help junior engineers grow into confident contributors and future tech leads.
• • Ensure bulletproof reliability on the most critical days. GOTV weekends and debate nights are our Super Bowls. You will build chaos-monkey tests, implement blue-green deployments, and craft runbooks so that when traffic spikes 10× in a matter of minutes, the platform stays rock-solid and campaigns never miss a voter contact window.
• • Collaborate cross-functionally with organizing, compliance, and data teams. You’ll translate campaign jargon into technical specs—“we need a 24-hour opt-out report” becomes a scheduled Lambda that aggregates DynamoDB streams and emails CSVs to compliance officers. Your empathy for organizers and voters alike will guide product decisions.
• • Champion security and privacy in the political space. You will implement OAuth 2.0, fine-grained RBAC, and end-to-end encryption for sensitive voter data. Regular penetration tests and third-party audits will keep us ahead of adversaries who target progressive infrastructure.
• • Drive continuous deployment and observability culture. We ship multiple times per day using GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Argo CD. You will instrument services with OpenTelemetry, set SLOs in Datadog, and create alerting rules that wake you up only when it truly matters.
• • Contribute to open-source and give back to the civic tech community. Whether it’s upstreaming a Twilio SDK patch or releasing an internal tool for voter-file deduplication, your work will help other progressive organizations run better campaigns.
