Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect and deliver the next generation of AI-driven, cloud-native discovery products that ingest, process, and surface insights from petabytes of unstructured legal data. You will own the full lifecycle—from whiteboard sketches to production at scale—while ensuring security, compliance, and performance targets are exceeded.
- • Design and implement resilient, high-throughput microservices in C# (.NET 6+) and React 18, leveraging Azure Functions, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, and Event Hubs to achieve sub-second query latencies on datasets exceeding 100 million records.
- • Champion modern engineering excellence: enforce clean architecture, domain-driven design, and SOLID principles; drive adoption of automated testing (unit, integration, contract, performance) achieving >85 % coverage; and embed static analysis, dependency scanning, and security linting into every pull request.
- • Provide hands-on technical leadership through pair programming, architecture guilds, and weekly “lunch-and-learn” sessions. Mentor mid-level and junior engineers, accelerating their growth from feature contributors to system thinkers and preparing them for promotion tracks.
- • Lead the evolution of our observability stack—OpenTelemetry, Application Insights, Grafana, and custom dashboards—to deliver real-time SLI/SLO visibility, predictive alerting, and automated rollback capabilities that keep availability above 99.9 %.
- • Integrate AI-assisted development workflows (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, custom LLM agents) to cut boilerplate by 30 %, enforce coding standards automatically, and free the team to focus on high-value product innovation.
- • Own reliability engineering: participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation, conduct blameless post-mortems, and build self-healing automation that reduces MTTR from hours to minutes.
- • Collaborate with product managers, UX researchers, data scientists, and legal domain experts to translate complex customer requirements into elegant technical solutions that shorten evidence review times by 40 %.
- • Contribute to open-source initiatives, speak at meetups, and author technical blogs that position Relativity as a thought leader in legal-tech and cloud-scale engineering.
- • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies—vector databases, confidential computing, WebAssembly at the edge—and run proof-of-concepts that influence multi-year architectural roadmaps.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of professional software engineering with at least 3 years building distributed, cloud-native systems on Azure, AWS, or GCP
- • Expert-level proficiency in C# (.NET Core/6+) and strong working knowledge of React or similar modern frontend framework
- • Demonstrated experience designing secure, scalable REST/GraphQL APIs and event-driven architectures using message queues, streams, or service buses
- • Deep understanding of relational and NoSQL data modeling, query optimization, and horizontal scaling patterns (Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent)
- • Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with big-data tooling (Kafka, Spark, Elasticsearch), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Bicep, Pulumi), and AI/ML pipelines
🏖️ Benefits
- • Hybrid flexibility—work from our vibrant Chicago office or remotely across Illinois with quarterly in-person collaboration weeks
- • Total compensation package: base salary $126 k–$190 k, annual performance bonus, and long-term equity incentives
- • Discretionary Time Off (DTO) plus two annual company-wide shutdowns and generous parental leave for primary and secondary caregivers
- • $2,000 annual professional-development stipend, paid certifications, and access to internal leadership tracks and mentorship programs
