- • As a Senior Software Engineer at Genio, you will be instrumental in driving the design, development, and implementation of innovative learning tools that empower students worldwide. You will tackle complex technical challenges, contribute to architectural decisions, and play a key role in ensuring the scalability, quality, and efficiency of our award-winning SaaS platform.
- • Your responsibilities will span the full software development lifecycle, from initial design and coding to testing, deployment, and ongoing support. You will be expected to write high-quality, maintainable, and testable code, adhering to Genio's robust engineering principles.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves enhancing code quality through active participation in and leadership of code reviews, ensuring that best practices are consistently applied across the team.
- • You will champion testability as a core consideration throughout the development process, designing features that facilitate comprehensive automated testing and contribute to a culture of quality assurance.
- • You will be a key player in identifying and resolving complex technical issues, including performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and concurrency problems, leveraging a variety of debugging techniques and tools.
- • Your expertise will be crucial in contributing to and influencing decisions that enhance system performance, reliability, and overall architecture, ensuring our platform remains robust and scalable.
- • You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and fellow engineers within cross-functional product squads to refine requirements and deliver impactful solutions that meet user needs.
- • This role requires you to lead and actively contribute to technical discussions and decision-making processes within your squad, fostering an environment of shared ownership and technical excellence.
- • You will foster a culture of open, honest, and timely communication, providing clear updates on progress, identifying potential issues, and proactively addressing blockers to ensure smooth project execution.
- • A vital part of your role will be to cultivate a fun, safe, and collaborative engineering environment built on trust, mutual respect, and continuous learning.
- • You will actively mentor and support less experienced engineers, fostering their technical growth through pairing sessions, knowledge sharing, and constructive feedback.
- • You will share your expertise and advocate for continuous improvement by leading tech talks, contributing to documentation, and actively participating in code reviews.
- • You will contribute to the ongoing refinement of engineering processes and team efficiency, identifying opportunities for optimization and implementing best practices.
- • You will leverage AI tools, such as code assistants and automated analysis platforms, to enhance development velocity, improve code quality, and accelerate problem-solving, staying at the forefront of technological advancements.
- • You will be part of a dynamic, fast-growing SaaS scale-up, recognized as one of the fastest-growing tech companies in the North of England, with a mission to support one million students to become better learners by 2030.
- • You will join one of four stream-aligned product squads (BEAR, Loch HESS, GOAT, or Egg), working collaboratively with disciplines including Product, UX, Customer Experience, and Data.
- • You will have the opportunity to learn from and be managed by experienced Engineering Line Managers and work under the leadership of Mala, Head of Engineering.
- • The role offers a competitive salary range of £59,000 - £65,000, dependent on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional development.
