- • Design, build, and maintain backend services using Go or other strongly typed languages to power Pave Bank’s core banking infrastructure.
- • Develop scalable, event-driven distributed systems that handle critical financial operations with high reliability and uptime.
- • Collaborate directly with Product, Compliance, Treasury, and Operations teams to translate business needs into technical specifications and deliver end-to-end solutions.
- • Write comprehensive design documents outlining architecture, data flows, failure modes, and scaling strategies for new features and system improvements.
- • Conduct thorough code reviews, providing constructive technical feedback to peers to ensure maintainable, secure, and well-tested codebases.
- • Own features from initial architecture through coding, testing, deployment, and monitoring, ensuring quality at every stage of the lifecycle.
- • Implement automated testing and monitoring practices to uphold code quality and system reliability across production environments.
- • Contribute to the evolution of engineering best practices, tooling, and operational standards within the engineering team.
- • Mentor junior engineers by guiding technical decisions, reviewing work, and fostering a culture of learning and accountability.
- • Advocate for clean, well-documented, and performant code that supports long-term system maintainability and scalability.
- • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to align engineering efforts with regulatory requirements, financial compliance, and business growth objectives.
- • Identify and address system bottlenecks, technical debt, and reliability risks proactively to ensure the platform remains robust as it scales.
- • Engage with open-source communities or internal platforms to adopt and contribute to tools that enhance engineering productivity and system integrity.
- • Remain deeply engaged with the fintech landscape, applying knowledge of banking infrastructure to improve product functionality and user experience.
- • Work in a fast-paced startup environment where ambiguity is common, requiring rapid learning, adaptive problem-solving, and decisive action.
- • Help shape the engineering culture at an early-stage fintech backed by top global investors and led by founders from Monzo and BigPay.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- • Strong proficiency in Go, or proven exceptional ability in another strongly typed language.
- • Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
- • Experience in a Tier 1 tech company (e.g., Stripe, Grab, Google, Deliveroo, Monzo, Shopee, Bytedance) or significant open-source contributions.
- • Hands-on experience with Temporal, GCP, or Encore.dev is a plus.
- • Collaborative, empathetic communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
