You will tackle the most challenging and ambiguous technical problems, providing clear, simple, and elegant solutions.
- • You are expected to demonstrate a profound breadth and depth of technical expertise, confidently leading and contributing to large-scale, intricate projects. Your role extends beyond individual contribution; you will act as a key technical influencer within your team, championing best practices and proactively driving improvements in processes, tooling, and architecture that benefit the entire engineering organization.
- • A significant aspect of this senior position involves elevating the technical capabilities of your colleagues. This includes actively mentoring, coaching, and teaching team members, sharing your knowledge through insightful conversations, comprehensive documentation, and engaging technical presentations. You will serve as a force multiplier, enhancing the technical prowess of your teammates and fostering a more robust and collaborative engineering environment for everyone.

This involves encouraging experimentation, embracing feedback, and creating an atmosphere where team members feel empowered to take risks and learn from both successes and failures.
- • Your responsibilities will encompass the full software development lifecycle, from initial design and implementation to rigorous testing and ongoing maintenance. You will be responsible for writing well-tested, high-quality code, upholding stringent standards for code quality, system design, and testing methodologies. This includes actively participating in code reviews for both your own and your colleagues' work, providing specific, actionable feedback that promotes growth and improves overall code integrity.
- • Collaboration is key to success in this role. You will work closely with your immediate team, including the Tech Lead, Lead Software Engineer, Product Designer, and fellow software engineers, to ensure the delivery of a high-quality product. You will also partner with user experience specialists to design, implement, and refine the product's user experience, ensuring it is intuitive and effective for our customers.
- • Furthermore, you will collaborate with the team to ensure the product is supported by comprehensive technical documentation and clear API specifications, facilitating ease of use and integration for our customers and internal teams.
- • You will be encouraged to identify innovative tools and techniques that can enhance software engineering practices, and to share these advancements with the wider Redgate engineering community and beyond.
- • Building strong, positive relationships with stakeholders is crucial. You will foster an environment of trust and open communication, ensuring alignment and mutual understanding.
- • A deep understanding of how the product or systems owned by your team solve customer problems and deliver tangible value is essential. You will be expected to prioritize engineering work based on its potential to provide maximum value to our customers, aligning technical efforts with business objectives.
- • You will take ownership of significant projects from inception to completion, ensuring the delivery of measurable business value through strategic planning, meticulous execution, and predictable delivery.
- • A critical part of your role will be to actively engage with users to understand their real-world usage of the product. This customer empathy will directly inform your engineering decisions, ensuring that we are building solutions that truly meet user needs and exceed expectations.
- • You will contribute to the ongoing evolution of Redgate Monitor, a mature and widely adopted tool that empowers organizations to proactively monitor, diagnose, and optimize their database environments. Your work will directly impact the ability of our customers to manage their critical database infrastructure more effectively, reducing errors and increasing efficiency.
- • This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a passion for building exceptional software that makes a real difference to our users.
