- • Senior Software Engineer role on Hopper's Fintech Foundation team, responsible for designing and building machine learning systems that power the company's pricing engine, directly impacting revenue, financial risk management, and customer experience for over 100 million monthly active users.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing automated training pipelines, building ETL pipelines with feature engineering, developing and deploying real-time ML pricing solutions, monitoring production systems for latency and drift, running champion-challenger tests, and collaborating with data science, engineering, and product teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- • Hopper's Fintech Foundation team owns the pricing engine that balances customer demand against financial risk across partners like Capital One, Air Canada, and Spirit Airlines, and is central to Hopper's mission of reshaping travel experiences through data-driven fintech innovation.
- • The role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact ML systems at scale, gain expertise in production ML pipelines and pricing algorithms, contribute to a product used by hundreds of millions of travelers, and grow within a fast-growing, well-funded company backed by major institutional investors.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience in a similar role, ideally within production ML systems or large-scale pricing platforms
- • Proficiency in Python, Scala, and SQL, applied to production ML systems rather than exploratory work
- • Experience in data modelling, software architecture, and distributed data processing frameworks at scale
- • Deep understanding of ML algorithms and when to apply them in the context of pricing, demand forecasting, or similar commercial domains
- • Strong analytical instincts and attention to detail, with a track record of catching issues before they reach production
- • Clear, collaborative communication skills that hold up across data science, engineering, and business stakeholder audiences
