- • Design and develop scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices that enable product teams to securely leverage AI models across Mixpanel’s platform.
- • Build agent orchestration frameworks to support multi-step workflows, including task decomposition, tool invocation, and persistent memory for AI agents.
- • Create robust evaluation systems to continuously measure AI reasoning quality, hallucination rates, and task success using production metrics and evals.
- • Architect high-performance serving infrastructure with strict guarantees on latency, throughput, cost-efficiency, and error handling for AI model deployments.
- • Implement comprehensive observability and MLOps practices including structured logging, distributed tracing, and monitoring across all deployed AI models.
- • Develop infrastructure for automatic generation of LLM inputs by integrating relevant customer and behavioral data to elevate agent performance.
- • Build and expand AI agent integrations and accessibility tools, such as a Mixpanel Slackbot and a public skills library, to extend AI capabilities to customer-facing channels.
- • Lead the development of the Agent Optimization Framework, a measurement and tuning system that uses production data to optimize AI agents for speed, quality, and cost across diverse use cases.
- • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to build self-serve infrastructure that transforms the AI development lifecycle.
- • Advocate for and enforce software engineering best practices through thorough design and code reviews, and mentor junior engineers on the team.
- • Contribute to a greenfield AI platform with a mandate to empower AI product development both internally and for Mixpanel’s customers.
- • Work in a hybrid environment based in San Francisco, balancing in-office collaboration with remote flexibility.
- • Drive innovation at the forefront of AI-powered product analytics, focusing on scalability, reliability, and user-centric outcomes.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- • Strong full-stack fundamentals with comfort working across frontend, backend, and data layers
- • Hands-on experience integrating and orchestrating LLMs and AI agents
- • Experience building AI-native systems and iteratively improving them in production
- • Excellent debugging, technical investigation, and asynchronous communication skills
