• • This Senior Software Engineer role is integral to the API Experience team, a critical group responsible for Lambda's customer-facing Core Cloud APIs. This team ensures a seamless and powerful experience for all users interacting with our platform, managing everything from instance creation and storage attachment to Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) management. The primary objective is to deliver a delightful, consistent, and cohesive API-first experience, catering to the diverse needs of our customer base, from self-serve Public Cloud users to the most demanding AI companies globally. Your contributions will directly shape how customers interact with and leverage our cutting-edge AI cloud infrastructure, ensuring they have the tools and access they need to drive innovation.
• • In this role, you will be instrumental in building end-to-end features that enhance the Lambda Cloud platform. This involves contributing to both frontend and backend codebases, ensuring a holistic approach to feature development across existing and new functionalities. You will engage in close collaboration with Product Engineering, Platform, and Infrastructure teams, working synergistically to deliver robust solutions that span the entire technology stack. A key aspect of your work will involve partnering directly with Product Managers to meticulously design, scope, and deliver features that are paramount to customer success, all while upholding the highest standards of product quality and reliability. Furthermore, you will have the unique opportunity to work directly with the engineering teams of our Superintelligence customers, gaining invaluable insights into their specific challenges and requirements. You will also assume ownership of production features and systems, which includes active participation in incident response rotations, ensuring the continuous availability and performance of our services. A significant part of your responsibility will be to design and implement comprehensive observability and maintenance processes for the new features you help build, ensuring their long-term health and efficiency.
• • The ideal candidate will possess strong backend experience, specifically in building business-critical services using Python, proficiency in Unix/Command line operations, experience with frameworks like Django or FastAPI, and a solid understanding of Postgres databases. You should demonstrate a proven track record of owning complex features from inception to completion, encompassing problem definition with Product, through to General Availability (GA) release and the rigorous measurement of success criteria, particularly within highly ambiguous environments and under demanding deadlines. A key skill will be your proven ability to clearly articulate trade-offs related to scope and timelines, enabling informed decision-making. Crucially, you will have experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining developer-facing APIs and their accompanying documentation, ensuring clarity and ease of use for our customers.
• • Beyond core backend development, we value experience in CI/CD practices for automating testing and deployment workflows, ensuring efficient and reliable software delivery. A strong understanding of Reliability & Observability principles, including effective logging, alerting strategies, and the architecture of highly available systems, is essential. Familiarity with Cloud Native Services, such as AWS, Okta, and Cloudflare, will be highly beneficial in navigating our cloud ecosystem. For those looking to expand their expertise, opportunities exist to gain experience with Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Atlantis, or Crossplane, and to delve into the exciting fields of Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), or data science.
