- • Design, build, and operate high-performance, low-latency backend services across the App Foundations portfolio including the MPP API, customer data model, Notifications Platform, License Entitlement, Package Management, Large Model Service (LMS), and MPP Go Service.
- • Lead end-to-end delivery of platform features and stability initiatives—from technical design and PRR through launch, post-launch operations, and long-term ownership—ensuring reliability and scalability for all Abnormal products.
- • Drive SLO-backed reliability improvements on Tier-0 systems such as Notifications and LMS, enhancing observability, on-call posture, and reducing unplanned work through proactive system hardening.
- • Contribute to the Large Model Service (LMS), implementing model routing and fallback strategies, integrating provider APIs (Azure OpenAI, Bedrock), managing batch/async inference workflows, and enforcing cost attribution and safety rails for AI feature shipping.
- • Build AI-native internal tools that automate team workflows, such as automated ticket triage, on-call copilots, post-mortem drafting, and customer-request classifiers, following existing precedents like Nora and Claude skills.
- • Mentor junior engineers, lead technical design reviews, conduct PR reviews, and serve as a subject matter expert for owned systems across the platform.
- • Partner with product managers, TPMs, and cross-functional platform teams (Portal, Customer Journey, Data Security, FedRAMP) to execute complex, multi-team initiatives with clarity and precision.
- • Participate in hiring processes by writing technical questions, conducting interview loops, and helping recruit engineers who align with the team’s AI-forward culture.
- • Use AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) as the default method for writing and reviewing code, and integrate AI leverage into workflows beyond code generation to improve team efficiency and outcomes.
- • Maintain deep ownership of systems that underpin every product launch, scaling effort, and customer interaction at Abnormal Security, ensuring they meet enterprise-grade standards for performance, security, and reliability.
- • Communicate crisply and collaborate autonomously with remote stakeholders across time zones, using strong written and verbal skills to align teams on technical direction and operational priorities.
- • Operate with a product-minded, principle-first mindset, treating AI not as an experiment but as core infrastructure that defines how engineering is done at Abnormal.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of backend software engineering experience building and operating production services at scale
- • 4+ years working with Python (Django) and/or Go; MySQL/PostgreSQL; and hands-on experience with Kafka, Redis, and ElasticSearch
- • 3+ years supporting enterprise-class customers in production, including ownership of SLOs, on-call duties, and incident response
- • 2+ years of system design experience demonstrating ability to design, document, and land non-trivial cross-team architectures
- • Proven daily use of AI coding tools in current workflow with specific examples of improving team workflows beyond code generation
- • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
