- • As a Senior Software Engineer focused on Applied AI at Pearl Health, you will be at the forefront of innovation, architecting and implementing the core AI-powered intelligence layer that defines our platform. This is a hands-on role where you will translate cutting-edge artificial intelligence concepts into tangible, production-grade features that directly impact the delivery of healthcare.
- • You will be instrumental in designing, building, and owning sophisticated AI features. This includes developing robust Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, which involve intricate strategies for data chunking, semantic search, and efficient vector database management. Furthermore, you will architect and implement Agentic workflows, enabling AI systems to perform complex tasks autonomously and intelligently.
- • A significant part of your role will involve the seamless integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) into our existing and new services. This requires not only a deep understanding of LLM capabilities but also the ability to manage their outputs and ensure they are delivered through scalable, production-ready services that can handle healthcare data at scale.
- • You will be responsible for developing high-performance data pipelines and APIs. These pipelines will be crucial for processing vast amounts of sensitive healthcare data securely and efficiently, ensuring that LLM outputs are integrated flawlessly into user-facing applications and analytical tools.
- • This role extends to building responsive and intuitive web applications using modern frontend frameworks. The goal is to create user experiences that leverage AI-driven intelligence and advanced analytics, making complex healthcare data accessible and actionable for providers.
- • You will also play a key role in executing Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) and conducting technical evaluations of emerging AI technologies. This proactive approach will help validate the product viability and scalability of new AI solutions before full-scale implementation.
- • Ensuring the operational excellence of our AI-powered services is paramount. This includes establishing comprehensive observability, robust monitoring systems, and championing stringent security and regulatory compliance, particularly concerning HIPAA and SOC2 standards.
- • As a Senior Engineer, you will drive critical architectural decisions and system optimizations for AI features. This will be done in close collaboration with product managers and engineering leadership, ensuring that our technical direction aligns with strategic business objectives and supports long-term scalability.
- • You will own technical projects from their initial discovery phase through to successful delivery, operating with a high degree of autonomy. This end-to-end ownership ensures that solutions are not only technically sound but also directly address business needs and are built for future growth.
- • Mentoring and upskilling fellow engineers is a core responsibility. You will share your expertise in Applied AI best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning, technical excellence, and collaborative problem-solving within the engineering team.
- • You will contribute significantly to the team's collective understanding of LLM capabilities, their inherent limitations, and the best practices for their application within the sensitive and complex healthcare domain.
- • Active participation in thorough design and code reviews is expected, serving as a catalyst for raising the technical quality bar across the entire team.
- • You will be accountable for the successful delivery of complex technical projects, managing timelines and ensuring alignment with business objectives. Identifying and resolving technical bottlenecks and cross-team dependencies will be crucial for maintaining delivery velocity and system reliability.
- • A key aspect of this role is balancing the need for speed and iteration with the imperative for maintaining high engineering quality and reliability, making pragmatic decisions that enable rapid progress without compromising on excellence.

🎯 Requirements
- • 5-8 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong foundation in service-oriented architectures and distributed systems.
- • Hands-on experience building and productionizing Applied AI LLM features, including working with RAG architectures, vector databases, embedding models, and/or Agentic workflows.
- • Strong proficiency in Python, relational databases, and a major cloud platform (AWS preferred).
- • A deep understanding of modern service design principles, including RESTful and event-driven architectures.
- • Proven experience designing, building, and optimizing data-intensive applications.
- • A demonstrated history of mentoring engineers and driving technical best practices within a team.
