- • Architect and scale the distributed backend services that power Ocrolus’ AI-driven lending platform, processing millions of financial documents and risk signals every month for banks, fintechs, and credit unions.
- • Own the full lifecycle of critical product features—from ideation and technical design through implementation, automated testing, deployment, and post-launch optimization—ensuring 99.9 % uptime for customers who depend on real-time credit decisions.
- • Design high-throughput data pipelines that ingest, normalize, and enrich borrower information from bank statements, pay stubs, tax forms, and other unstructured sources, leveraging Python, Kotlin, and Go micro-services running on Kubernetes in AWS.
- • Collaborate daily with cross-functional squads of data scientists, ML engineers, product managers, and compliance specialists to translate complex lending regulations into elegant, auditable software that reduces manual review time by up to 80 %.
- • Lead technical deep-dives and architecture reviews, mentoring mid-level engineers on distributed-systems best practices, domain-driven design, and rigorous observability standards (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana).
- • Champion a culture of security and privacy, implementing fine-grained access controls, encryption at rest/in transit, and SOC 2-compliant audit trails that protect sensitive borrower data across every layer of the stack.
- • Optimize latency-sensitive APIs that surface risk scores and fraud indicators in under 500 ms, employing caching layers (Redis, DynamoDB DAX), asynchronous queues (SQS, Kafka), and advanced SQL/NoSQL tuning techniques.
- • Drive continuous delivery excellence via GitHub Actions, Terraform, and Argo CD—shipping code to production multiple times per day with zero-downtime blue/green deployments and automated rollback strategies.
- • Contribute to the open-source community and internal SDKs that allow partner fintechs to embed Ocrolus capabilities natively, expanding our ecosystem and reinforcing our position as the category leader in document intelligence for lending.
- • Partner with the Data team to evolve our feature store and model-serving infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration between offline training pipelines and low-latency online inference services.
- • Influence product strategy by translating customer pain points into technical roadmaps, balancing short-term delivery with long-term scalability, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
- • Participate in a lightweight on-call rotation (one week in six) where you’ll triage alerts, conduct blameless post-mortems, and turn incidents into durable system improvements.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of production backend experience in Python, Kotlin, Go, or Java, including at least two years architecting fault-tolerant, high-throughput services in AWS or GCP.
- • Proven track record designing RESTful and gRPC APIs, event-driven architectures, and large-scale data pipelines (Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub).
- • Deep expertise in relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB) with advanced query optimization and schema-design skills.
- • Hands-on proficiency with container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and CI/CD automation.
- • Nice-to-have: prior fintech or reg-tech exposure, familiarity with OCR/ML pipelines, or contributions to open-source data or security projects.
