Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Build full-stack features across Google Drive and OAuth surfaces of Material Security’s Cloud Office Security product, owning end-to-end development from design to production.
- • Design and ship agentic workflows powered by LLMs to automate detection, investigation, and remediation of security risks within customer Google Workspace environments.
- • Integrate deeply with Google Workspace APIs to create reliable, scalable data pipelines that handle real-world edge cases including rate limits, retries, idempotency, and inconsistent data formats.
- • Collaborate directly with product and design teams to prioritize and ship high-impact features that enhance customer security outcomes and user experience.
- • Work across both backend and frontend systems, contributing effectively to TypeScript/React interfaces when necessary, without requiring deep frontend specialization.
- • Partner with adjacent product and platform engineering teams to expose Cloud Office Security capabilities across the broader Material Security product ecosystem.
- • Maintain high code quality with minimal oversight, taking ownership of features through deployment, monitoring, and long-term operational reliability.
- • Actively participate in code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and help cultivate a strong, collaborative engineering culture across a remote-first team.
- • Engage with LLM-based agent systems in production, including designing prompts, selecting and integrating tools, and establishing evaluation criteria to ensure correctness and trustworthiness.
- • Navigate the complexities of third-party API integrations at scale, making pragmatic trade-offs between feature velocity, system reliability, and security constraints.
- • Take initiative to identify and solve critical security problems in customer environments, prioritizing actions that deliver measurable risk reduction.
- • Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to non-engineering stakeholders, balancing product goals with system integrity and operational safety.
- • Contribute to the evolution of the Cloud Office Security product roadmap by proposing innovations based on real-world customer behavior and threat patterns.
- • Stay engaged with production systems post-launch, responding to incidents, refining automations, and improving agent performance based on live data and feedback.
- • Embrace ambiguity in early-stage product development, shaping technical direction with limited precedent while maintaining rigorous engineering standards.
- • Prioritize user-centered design in security tooling, ensuring that complex risk mitigation workflows remain intuitive and actionable for security teams.
- • Balance speed of delivery with robustness, avoiding technical debt while shipping polished, production-ready features on a rapid cycle.
- • Represent Material Security’s engineering values through humility, curiosity, and a relentless focus on customer impact over personal contribution.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong backend and systems engineering skills with experience building and operating systems that integrate with third-party APIs at scale, including handling rate limits, retries, idempotency, and messy data.
- • Full-stack comfort: ability to contribute effectively to frontend development (TypeScript/React) alongside backend work, with capacity to ship end-to-end features.
- • Experience or strong interest in building LLM-powered agentic workflows in production, including prompt design, tool selection, and evaluation methodologies.
- • Technical maturity and ownership: ability to write high-quality code independently, assess technical risks, and stay accountable through production rollout and beyond.
- • Product sense: ability to make thoughtful UX trade-offs in collaboration with design teams while prioritizing customer outcomes and security effectiveness.
- • Attitude: smart, hard-working, humble, and unafraid to take initiative with minimal guidance; team-first mindset with willingness to lead.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Compensation range of $190,000 - $235,000.
- • Remote-first workplace with optional office in San Francisco, California.
- • Equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion across all protected characteristics.
- • Adherence to California Candidate Privacy Notice regarding personal information use.
