Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Design, build, implement, and optimize multi-stage computer vision pipelines that extract structured inventory data from clinical images captured under variable lighting, camera angles, and workflow conditions with zero tolerance for errors.
- • Train and fine-tune object detection models on custom medical supply datasets to improve accuracy in identifying items such as syringes, vials, and packaging under real-world imaging conditions.
- • Build and own dataset strategy by leveraging image augmentation and synthetic data generation to address gaps in real-world training and testing data.
- • Develop OCR pipelines for extracting label and packaging text from medical supplies, ensuring high-fidelity transcription of batch numbers, expiration dates, and product codes.
- • Integrate and utilize multimodal LLM/LVM APIs to validate and structure extracted data, combining visual information with contextual text to improve extraction reliability.
- • Implement barcode, QR code, and UDI decoding systems with preprocessing strategies to maximize decode rates in low-quality or partially occluded images.
- • Design persistence schemas and audit data models that make every data extraction independently reviewable, ensuring traceability for clinical and supply chain compliance.
- • Monitor and improve pipeline accuracy by instrumenting field-level metrics, diagnosing failure modes, and systematically enhancing precision and recall through iterative model refinement and preprocessing optimization.
- • Maintain and extend async Python backend services using FastAPI and Pydantic v2 to surface validated extraction results to downstream clinical and supply chain workflows.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align computer vision outputs with clinical workflow requirements, ensuring data integrity impacts patient safety, billing accuracy, and supply chain efficiency.
- • Work with PostgreSQL to store, query, and manage structured inventory data generated by the CV pipelines, ensuring scalability and auditability.
- • Apply OpenCV and image preprocessing techniques to enhance image quality prior to model inference, including noise reduction, contrast adjustment, and geometric correction.
- • Ensure all computer vision systems meet production-grade reliability standards, with robust error handling, logging, and monitoring for continuous operational stability.
- • Contribute to MLOps practices including model versioning, CI/CD pipelines, and A/B testing of model iterations to validate performance gains in production.
- • Leverage workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal, Prefect, or Airflow to manage complex, asynchronous data processing pipelines across multiple stages.
- • Stay current with advancements in zero-shot object detection and medical imaging standards to continuously improve system performance and compliance.
