📋 Description

• Own the entire lifecycle of high-impact features for Scrunch’s core application, from infrastructure decisions to pixel-perfect UI. You’ll architect, build, test, deploy, and iterate on products that 500+ brands—including Lenovo, Skims, and Clerk—rely on to stay visible in the AI-first future.
• Ship end-to-end product experiences at startup velocity. On Monday you might be modeling a new Postgres schema to capture LLM referral data; by Friday you’ve deployed a React dashboard that surfaces real-time insights to marketers in a single click.
• Collaborate daily with design and product, but also operate as an autonomous product thinker. You’ll translate fuzzy marketing problems (“How do we prove ROI from ChatGPT mentions?”) into elegant technical solutions that feel obvious once they exist.
• Level-up our DevOps posture: extend GitHub Actions pipelines, wire up Sentry + Datadog, and keep P95 response times under 200 ms even when traffic spikes after a TechCrunch launch. You’ll treat infrastructure as product—reliable, observable, and delightful to work with.
• Champion testability and code quality. Expect to write unit, integration, and E2E tests that give the team confidence to deploy multiple times a day. You’ll also guide junior engineers in patterns like dependency injection and clean architecture.
• Refine and scale our Python REST APIs. You’ll design new endpoints that ingest millions of LLM interactions, optimize SQL joins that crunch terabytes of ranking data, and maintain backward compatibility while moving fast.
• Craft front-end experiences that are fast, accessible, and beautiful. We use Next.js, Tailwind, and shadcn/ui, but we care more about taste than tech trivia. You’ll obsess over 200 ms interactions and color contrast ratios so marketers love using Scrunch.
• Influence product roadmap and company strategy. Your insights from the data layer and user interviews will directly shape what we build next—and how we position ourselves against an evolving landscape of AI platforms.
• Mentor and be mentored. We’re a remote-first team, but we pair program, run architecture reviews, and ship “demo or die” every Friday. You’ll both teach best practices and learn from teammates who’ve scaled systems at Google, Stripe, and Airbnb.
• Embrace the unknown. AI search is changing weekly; yesterday’s best practice is today’s technical debt. You’ll experiment fearlessly, measure relentlessly, and help Scrunch stay two steps ahead of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and whatever comes next.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years shipping production web applications end-to-end (API + front-end + infra) in high-velocity teams
• Expert-level proficiency with Python (FastAPI or Django) and relational databases (PostgreSQL), including hand-written SQL for complex joins and aggregations
• Demonstrated ability to design, build, and maintain scalable REST APIs consumed by both web and third-party integrations
• Strong product and design sensibility: you can take a Figma mock or a rough idea and turn it into an intuitive, polished user experience
• Comfortable owning DevOps tasks—CI/CD, Docker, error monitoring, and cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP)
• Nice-to-have: hands-on experience with React/Next.js, Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, or similar modern component systems
