Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end architecture of Spexi’s supply-side mobile and backend systems, ensuring ultra-high-resolution imagery flows from thousands of drones into our Fly-to-Earn marketplace with sub-minute latency and 99.9 % uptime.
- • Lead the evolution of our React-Native/Kotlin pilot app—adding mission-planning wizards, real-time air-space checks, and fail-safe flight logic—so pilots can complete complex grid flights safely while earning crypto rewards.
- • Design and scale AWS-native data ingest pipelines that receive, validate, stitch, and store multi-gigabyte image sets alongside rich telemetry; implement de-duplication, compression, and georeferencing steps that cut storage cost by 30 % and processing time by 40 %.
- • Integrate DJI and open-source flight-control SDKs, abstracting hardware differences behind a clean internal API so new drone models can be onboarded in days, not weeks.
- • Collaborate daily with product managers, UX designers, and blockchain engineers to translate token-economics requirements into resilient backend services and intuitive mobile workflows.
- • Champion code quality through rigorous peer reviews, automated testing (unit, integration, E2E), and continuous deployment pipelines that ship to production multiple times per day.
- • Provide technical mentorship to mid-level and junior engineers, running architecture guilds and brown-bag sessions that raise the bar for the entire team.
- • Monitor production via Datadog dashboards and custom alerts; when anomalies arise, jump into incident response, perform root-cause analysis, and codify fixes to prevent recurrence.
- • Contribute to cross-stack initiatives—whether optimizing PostgreSQL/PostGIS queries, tuning S3 lifecycle policies, or prototyping AR-based flight previews—whenever your expertise can unblock colleagues.
- • Stay ahead of the curve: evaluate emerging geospatial libraries, serverless patterns, and drone regulations, then present findings that shape our 12-month technical roadmap.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years shipping production-grade software, including at least two years in mobile (React-Native, Kotlin, or Flutter) and two years in cloud-native backend (AWS preferred).
- • Demonstrated experience integrating drone flight-control SDKs (DJI Mobile/UX, MAVLink, or similar) in safety-critical contexts.
- • Expert-level proficiency with TypeScript, Node.js or Python, REST/GraphQL API design, and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation).
- • Deep knowledge of geospatial data formats (GeoTIFF, COG, GeoJSON) and processing libraries (GDAL, Rasterio, or ESRI).
- • Nice-to-have: contributions to open-source GIS or drone projects; familiarity with blockchain-based marketplaces or token incentives; experience with CI/CD for mobile apps via Fastlane and GitHub Actions.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with flexible hours—work from Vancouver, Bali, or anywhere in between.
- • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents, effective day one.
- • Annual professional-development stipend (courses, conferences, certifications) plus paid volunteer days.
- • Stock-option plan and SPEXI token allocation so you share directly in the network’s growth and upside.
