- • As a Senior Software Engineer on the Dedrone Infrastructure Services team at Axon, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our core systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing, building, and evolving the foundational infrastructure that powers both our developer platform and critical backend services. This is an opportunity to blend robust software engineering principles with profound infrastructure knowledge, ensuring our platform is not only scalable and reliable but also exceptionally secure.
- • Your responsibilities will extend beyond mere infrastructure operation; you will be actively involved in building production-grade backend services, architecting cloud-native systems, and owning the complete lifecycle of our CI/CD and runtime environments. These environments are the bedrock upon which our entire product ecosystem is built and deployed.
- • You will have a significant influence on engineering standards, the overall developer experience, and the architectural direction across all of Dedrone’s product teams, fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency.
- • In the realm of Backend & Platform Service Engineering, you will design, construct, and maintain robust backend services, primarily utilizing Java, Go, or Python. These services are crucial for deployment orchestration, internal APIs, and the sophisticated capabilities of our developer platform.
- • You will be a key contributor to critical architectural decisions, including defining service boundaries, designing intuitive APIs, establishing effective persistence layers, strategizing for scalability, and implementing fault-tolerant mechanisms.
- • A significant part of your role will involve enhancing the performance, reliability, and maintainability of platform-owned services. This will be achieved through rigorous testing practices and thoughtful, well-engineered system designs.
- • You will also be responsible for maintaining and evolving the shared services that are vital to the operation of the Infrastructure Services team.
- • Within CI/CD & Developer Platform, you will take ownership of designing and optimizing our CI/CD systems. Your work will directly impact Dedrone’s distributed product ecosystem by reducing build times, minimizing deployment friction, and eliminating manual overhead.
- • You will implement advanced, automated deployment strategies such as blue/green deployments and canary releases, coupled with robust rollback automation, to significantly increase deployment confidence and reduce risk.
- • Furthermore, you will provide reusable templates, standardized pipeline patterns, and essential tooling that empower product teams with enhanced self-service capabilities, accelerating their development cycles.
- • In Cloud Infrastructure & Automation, you will design and maintain scalable, secure AWS infrastructure, leveraging Infrastructure-as-Code principles with tools like Terraform or AWS CDK.
- • You will architect and optimize Docker images and container workflows, providing essential support for orchestration platforms like ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.
- • Your efforts will focus on improving environment consistency, implementing effective drift detection mechanisms, and enhancing the overall reliability of our infrastructure across both staging and production systems.
- • For Observability, Reliability & Security, you will strengthen Dedrone’s observability stack, encompassing metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting. This will involve leveraging powerful tools such as Grafana and CloudWatch.
- • You will utilize telemetry data and SLO-driven insights to diagnose complex issues and proactively enhance system reliability, ensuring our services meet stringent performance targets.
- • You will actively contribute to security-focused improvements across our CI/CD pipelines, Identity and Access Management (IAM), secrets management solutions, and the hardening of cloud resources.
- • In Engineering Standards & Collaboration, you will establish and champion high standards in service design, code quality, infrastructure patterns, and automation practices across the engineering organization.
- • You will foster close partnerships with product engineering teams to effectively reduce operational toil and significantly increase developer velocity.
- • You will collaborate seamlessly with Axon’s broader platform, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure alignment on shared best practices and architectural principles.
- • This role is based in our London, UK office, requiring a hybrid schedule with 4 days onsite, fostering in-person collaboration and team synergy.
