Kong Inc. is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic DevX team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Konnect Developer Portal.
• • In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the sophisticated microservices and APIs that power the Konnect Dev Portal. This portal is the central hub where our customers’ users discover, experiment with, and seamlessly integrate with their APIs hosted on the Kong platform. Your contributions will directly impact the business success of both Kong and our diverse customer base, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to innovative startups.
• • You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining a variety of essential microservices and APIs. This includes, but is not limited to, developing robust solutions for Developer Portal configuration, managing comprehensive API catalogs, building efficient Markdown and OpenAPI Specification (OAS) documentation solutions, configuring secure API authentication mechanisms, and implementing sophisticated metering and subscription services. Your work will ensure that developers have a frictionless and powerful experience when interacting with APIs on our platform.
• • A key aspect of this role involves designing and implementing elegant solutions to technical challenges of moderate complexity. You will be expected to think critically, explore innovative approaches, and deliver high-quality code that is both functional and maintainable. This requires a deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices in API development.
• • To ensure the reliability and stability of our services, you will actively participate in an on-call rotation. This means being prepared to respond to and resolve production issues, ensuring minimal downtime and a consistently positive experience for our users. This responsibility underscores the critical nature of the services you will be supporting.
• • Writing comprehensive automated tests is a non-negotiable part of your responsibilities. You will be tasked with developing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to rigorously verify the behavior of your code, prevent regressions, and maintain a high standard of software quality. A commitment to test-driven development (TDD) is highly valued.
• • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional Engineering and Product teams, providing technical expertise and contributing to the overall product roadmap. Your insights and contributions will help shape the direction of the Konnect Developer Portal and its underlying infrastructure.
