- • **Join a Mission-Driven Healthtech Leader:** Heidi Health is revolutionizing healthcare by building an AI Care Partner that empowers clinicians and enhances patient care. We are dedicated to creating a more continuous and human-centric healthcare experience. In just 18 months, Heidi has already given back over 18 million hours to healthcare professionals, supporting an astounding 73 million patient visits across 116 countries. With over two million patient visits powered by Heidi weekly worldwide and significant backing from nearly $100 million in funding, we are rapidly expanding our global presence in the US, UK, Canada, and Europe, forging critical partnerships with leading health systems such as the NHS, Beth Israel Lahey Health, and Monash Health.
- • **Shape the Future of Healthcare Integrations:** As a Senior Software Engineer on our Integrations Engineering team, you will be at the forefront of connecting Heidi's innovative AI technology with diverse healthcare systems. Your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and maintain robust integrations with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and Electronic Health Records (EHRs), as well as various healthcare APIs. This role is crucial for ensuring that Heidi's AI solutions are seamlessly embedded into existing clinical workflows, directly impacting how clinicians leverage AI at the point of care to improve patient outcomes and reduce administrative burden.
- • **Drive Interoperability and Innovation:** You will be instrumental in building and maintaining the critical bridges between Heidi and a wide array of healthcare systems. This involves a deep understanding and application of established interoperability standards, including HL7 (Health Level Seven), FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources), and SMART on FHIR. Your work will ensure that data flows securely and efficiently, enabling our AI to provide timely and relevant insights to clinicians.
- • **Collaborate on Cutting-Edge AI Solutions:** A key aspect of this role involves close collaboration with our talented AI/ML team. You will work hand-in-hand to integrate advanced medical speech transcription and intelligent note generation capabilities directly into clinical workflows. This partnership will ensure that Heidi's AI-powered tools are not only technically sound but also practically useful and seamlessly integrated into the daily routines of healthcare professionals.
- • **Engineer High-Performance, Scalable Systems:** You will contribute to the development and enhancement of the APIs and distributed systems that form the backbone of Heidi's core features. A strong focus will be placed on ensuring the performance, security, and scalability of these systems to meet the demands of a rapidly growing global user base and an increasing volume of patient data.
- • **Enhance Documentation Pipelines:** A significant part of your contribution will be dedicated to improving the reliability, accuracy, and efficiency of our medical documentation pipelines. This involves optimizing processes, troubleshooting issues, and implementing enhancements that ensure the integrity and quality of the data processed by Heidi's AI.
- • **Champion Engineering Excellence:** You will play a vital role in championing and implementing best practices for building resilient, maintainable, and secure software systems within the highly regulated healthcare domain. This includes advocating for code quality, thorough testing, and robust architectural patterns.
- • **Contribute to a Culture of Trust and Reliability:** At Heidi, we build to last. This means designing for safety and reliability is paramount. You will contribute to systems that clinicians, patients, and our own teams can trust implicitly, ensuring the highest standards of data integrity and system availability.
- • **Embrace Ownership and Collaboration:** We foster an environment where ideas are valued based on merit, not title. You will be encouraged to take ownership of your work, contribute to setting high standards, and collaborate effectively with a diverse team of engineers, designers, researchers, and clinicians. Your contributions will directly influence the direction and success of our product.
- • **Embrace a Fast-Paced, Steady Approach:** We move with agility but never compromise on trust. Your work will be part of a process that prioritizes steady progress and dependability, ensuring that the solutions we deliver are robust and can be relied upon by healthcare professionals worldwide.
- • **Foster Continuous Improvement:** We believe in making each other better through honest feedback, consistent support, and a shared commitment to growth. You will be part of a team that actively seeks opportunities for learning and development, both individually and collectively.
- • **Impact and Growth Opportunities:** This role offers a rare opportunity to make a tangible global impact within one of Australia's leading healthtech startups. If you demonstrate rapid impact, there's a clear pathway to fast-track your startup career. You will learn from some of the brightest minds in engineering and creative fields, joining a diverse and dynamic team.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex software solutions.
- • Prior hands-on experience integrating with healthcare systems (e.g., Cliniko, Halaxy, MediRecords, Epic, Cerner, athenahealth, Meditech) and a strong understanding of their operational nuances.
- • Demonstrated familiarity with key healthcare interoperability standards such as FHIR, HL7, and SMART on FHIR, including practical application in integration projects.
- • Proficiency in at least one prominent programming language (e.g., Python, C++, Rust, C#, Java, Javascript, Typescript) and experience building robust APIs and backend services, preferably with FastAPI.
- • Experience working with modern datastores like MongoDB and Redis, understanding their strengths and use cases in distributed systems.
- • Solid understanding of integration design principles, including RESTful APIs, authentication/authorization mechanisms (OAuth2, OpenID Connect), and event-driven architectures.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Flexible hybrid working environment with 3 days per week in the office.
- • Generous personal development budget of $500 per annum to support your continuous learning.
- • Become an owner of Heidi Health with company shares (equity), aligning your success with the company's growth.
- • Opportunity to make a significant global impact in the rapidly evolving healthtech industry.
- • Learn from and collaborate with a diverse team of experienced engineers, creatives, and healthcare professionals.
