• • As a Senior Software Engineer on the Experience Platform team at Pinecone Systems Inc., you will be at the forefront of a revolutionary shift in software development, driving the evolution towards agent-driven product experiences. This pivotal role places you at the heart of shaping how both humans and AI agents interact with Pinecone's core offerings, including its API, client libraries, authentication systems, revenue management, and observability tools.
• • Your primary mission will be to pioneer the agent experience, meticulously designing the interfaces, protocols (such as MCP), and comprehensive tooling that will establish Pinecone as the premier platform for building sophisticated agentic workflows. This involves a deep dive into understanding and anticipating the needs of AI agents as first-class users, ensuring Pinecone is not just compatible, but the most intuitive and powerful choice.
• • This is a role with exceptional scope, empowering you to own critical initiatives end-to-end. You will be instrumental in architecting backend systems, defining API strategies, developing robust SDKs, and contributing to web-based surfaces. This holistic ownership ensures that your contributions have a tangible and far-reaching impact across the product.
• • You will collaborate intimately with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to meticulously identify user needs, both human and agentic, and translate these insights into elegant, effective solutions. You will be responsible for the entire surface area, from the foundational HTTP layer to the user-facing UI, making critical architectural and design decisions across all these components.
• • A significant focus will be on building systems that dramatically multiply the team's output. The emphasis is squarely on the impact of what ships, rather than the hours invested. This involves designing AI-powered workflows, implementing automated quality gates, and developing high-leverage platform capabilities that enable a small, agile team to achieve the velocity and output typically requiring a much larger headcount.
• • You will be a key player in setting the standard for AI-assisted development within the team. This means leveraging the most effective tools available, such as Claude Code, Cursor, or other cutting-edge solutions, and actively establishing best practices and patterns that enhance the productivity and efficiency of the entire engineering group.
