Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of features that power the world’s largest commercial solar arrays. You’ll architect, code, test, and ship production-grade software that turns complex PV engineering workflows into elegant, lightning-fast user experiences.
- • Collaborate daily with a fully-remote, cross-functional squad of product managers, UX designers, QA engineers, and customer-facing solutions architects. Together you’ll translate high-level business goals into concrete user stories, epics, and technical roadmaps that move the needle for installers, EPCs, and developers across six continents.
- • Deep-dive into performance bottlenecks across the stack—whether that means shaving milliseconds off a Three.js render, optimizing a Postgres query that touches millions of irradiance data points, or re-architecting a Celery pipeline to cut batch-processing time in half. Your optimizations directly shorten the sales-to-install cycle for multi-megawatt projects.
- • Champion clean, idiomatic code and scalable design patterns. Through rigorous pull-request reviews, pair programming, and architecture guilds, you’ll mentor mid-level engineers and raise the bar for maintainability, test coverage, and observability across the HelioScope codebase.
- • Lead green-field initiatives such as real-time energy-yield simulation APIs, 3-D shading engines built on WebGL, or GPU-accelerated layout algorithms using CUDA. You’ll prototype quickly, validate with pilot customers, and iterate toward robust, cloud-native microservices that scale to tens of thousands of concurrent users.
- • Drive DevOps excellence by owning CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code. You’ll work with Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes to ensure zero-downtime deployments and bullet-proof rollback strategies for a SaaS platform that the solar industry relies on every day.
- • Translate complex electrical-engineering concepts—string sizing, inverter clipping, DC/AC ratios—into intuitive user interfaces that non-engineers can trust. Your empathy for end-users turns arcane calculations into clear visual feedback and actionable insights.
- • Instrument everything. From distributed tracing to real-time feature-flag analytics, you’ll build observability that surfaces anomalies before customers notice them, enabling proactive support and data-driven product decisions.
- • Stay on the cutting edge of solar tech and web standards. Whether it’s adopting new ECMAScript features, experimenting with WebAssembly for compute-heavy modules, or integrating LiDAR point-cloud data, you’ll keep HelioScope at the forefront of innovation.
- • Contribute to Aurora’s culture of sustainability and inclusion. You’ll participate in green-business initiatives, internal hack-weeks, and community outreach that advance both solar adoption and equitable access to clean energy.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of professional software development delivering high-quality, well-tested, maintainable products in production environments
- • Expert-level proficiency in at least one core language: Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or React, plus solid grasp of both OOP and functional paradigms
- • Demonstrated experience designing RESTful or GraphQL APIs, optimizing relational data models (Postgres), and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS or GCP
- • Deep knowledge of Agile, DevOps, and Lean principles—CI/CD, automated testing, containerization, and observability
- • Professional fluency in written and spoken English; able to collaborate effectively in a 100 % remote, asynchronous environment
🏖️ Benefits
- • Flexible PTO—take the time you need, no questions asked
- • 16 weeks of fully-paid parental leave plus a gradual return-to-work program
- • Work-from-home stipend: CAD $1,000 for engineering roles and CAD $675 for non-engineering roles, plus up to CAD $125/month for internet/phone
- • Coworking stipend of CAD $400/month if you prefer an external office space
- • Annual learning & development budget of CAD $970 after 90 days, plus company-wide “Energize Fridays” to log off and recharge
- • 100 % employer-paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for employees and dependents
