• • As a Senior Software Engineer II at Confluent Inc., you will be at the forefront of innovation, taking ownership of critical backend systems that form the backbone of our revolutionary data streaming platform. • • You will be instrumental in the design and delivery of large-scale, distributed services engineered for maximum security, unwavering availability, and effortless operability across diverse regions and cloud environments. This is a general L4 backend engineering position, offering the flexibility to contribute to various teams and focus areas within Confluent's core platform.
• • Depending on your unique background and interests, your contributions could span across essential domains such as core platform services, robust governance and metadata management, insightful observability and telemetry, stringent security and access controls, or dynamic customer-facing application services. • • You will be tasked with making critical architecture and technical decisions, skillfully balancing the intricate interplay of reliability, scalability, performance, and operability. A key aspect of this role involves clearly articulating the trade-offs inherent in these decisions to ensure informed consensus and strategic alignment.
• • The role demands driving projects from their inception through to their successful conclusion. This comprehensive ownership includes defining requirements, architecting solutions, implementing the code, managing the rollout process, and overseeing the ongoing operation of services in production environments.

This will involve defining precise Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), strengthening the observability of our systems through advanced metrics, logging, and tracing, and actively participating in on-call rotations to address any emergent issues.
