  • • As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Inventory Management Systems at Humana Inc., you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining sophisticated software solutions that underpin our critical inventory operations. This remote, nationwide position offers a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between internal engineering processes and a vital vended inventory management system, ensuring seamless data flow, robust integration, and strong cross-functional alignment.
  • • You will be the primary technical liaison, acting as the first line of defense between internal operational partners and the vendor. This involves proactively identifying and addressing potential issues, facilitating clear and consistent communication, and ensuring accountability from all parties involved in the inventory management ecosystem.
  • • Your responsibilities will extend to leading quality assurance efforts, meticulously overseeing testing and debugging processes, and developing effective fixes for software applications. This includes a deep dive into operational complaints, troubleshooting complex system defects, and formulating strategic recommendations or adjustments to resolve intricate software-related challenges.
  • • This role demands a high degree of independence, requiring you to operate without constant direction and to exercise significant latitude in defining objectives, technical approaches, and execution plans. You will be instrumental in shaping the departmental technical strategy, contributing insights and expertise to guide future development and system enhancements.
  • • A core aspect of your work will involve standardizing quality assurance processes, ensuring that our software solutions meet the highest standards of reliability and performance. This includes developing and implementing comprehensive testing strategies, analyzing test results, and driving the resolution of any identified issues.
  • • You will be responsible for coding software applications based on detailed business requirements, tackling challenges that range from moderately complex to highly intricate. This requires strong analytical skills, the ability to evaluate and respond effectively to dynamic and variable factors across diverse systems and teams, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.
  • • The role necessitates a solid understanding of data structures such as JSON, CSV, and APIs, along with expertise in various data ingestion techniques. You will be adept at managing data extraction processes and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data flowing through the inventory management system.
  • • Familiarity with Azure infrastructure, including Key Vaults, Storage Accounts, and ADLS2, will be crucial for managing and securing our cloud-based resources. You will leverage these tools to ensure the security, availability, and performance of our inventory management solutions.
  • • Experience with job orchestration tools like Prefect or other ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools is essential for automating and managing complex data pipelines. This includes designing, implementing, and monitoring these workflows to ensure efficient data processing and timely delivery.
  • • Advanced skills in Oracle databases are required for managing and querying large datasets, ensuring data consistency, and supporting complex reporting needs. You will be responsible for optimizing database performance and implementing robust data management strategies.
  • • You will actively solicit and incorporate feedback on technical solutions from team members and business counterparts, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring that solutions meet the needs of all stakeholders.
  • • The role also involves contributing to the overall technical vision and roadmap for inventory management systems, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement, and staying abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in software engineering and inventory management.
  • • By leveraging your expertise, you will directly contribute to Humana's mission of putting health first, ensuring that our operational infrastructure is efficient, reliable, and capable of supporting the delivery of quality healthcare services to millions of people.
  • • This position offers the chance to work with a dedicated team focused on continuous improvement and technological advancement within a leading healthcare organization.
