� Description

• • Architect, build, and refine high-performance trading and workflow-automation platforms that power more than 40 % of the world’s largest corporations, central banks, and governments. Your code will directly influence how trillions of euros in assets move through global markets every day.
• • Own the full SDLC for new modules and critical enhancements: from capturing complex functional requirements with product owners, through object-oriented or functional design, to writing clean Java, C#, or TypeScript, and finally deploying containerised micro-services on AWS via Jenkins and Docker.
• • Optimise latency, throughput, and memory footprint of existing software, turning profiler output and real-time metrics into targeted refactorings that shave milliseconds off critical paths and save thousands of compute hours per month.
• • Champion modern engineering practices inside self-organised, cross-functional squads. Lead ATDD and TDD sessions, enforce rigorous code-review gates, and evangelise CI/CD best practices so every commit is automatically built, tested, and promoted through Nexus to production.
• • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through pair-programming, brown-bag talks, and structured training curricula. Your guidance will shorten onboarding time and raise the collective bar for clean architecture, concurrency safety, and asynchronous design across the Italian engineering community.
• • Investigate and resolve high-severity production incidents, diving deep into logs, thread dumps, and distributed traces to uncover root causes. Translate findings into bullet-proof fixes and preventative tests that protect mission-critical workflows for traders operating 24/7.
• • Evaluate emerging technologies—whether a new JVM feature, a functional language, or an AWS serverless pattern—and run controlled spikes to quantify productivity or performance gains. Present evidence-backed recommendations that influence the multi-year technical roadmap.
• • Collaborate with quant researchers, UX designers, and regulatory experts in daily stand-ups and quarterly planning sessions. Translate intricate financial regulations and user stories into elegant, maintainable code that passes stringent compliance audits.
• • Contribute to the continuous modernisation of legacy monoliths, decomposing tightly coupled components into scalable, event-driven services while preserving data integrity and zero-downtime requirements for live trading environments.
• • Represent ION at local meet-ups and university partnerships in Pisa, Milan, Turin, Collecchio, and Rome, strengthening our employer brand and attracting the next generation of Italian software talent.

� Requirements

• • 3+ years of professional software engineering in demanding, low-latency or high-throughput environments, delivering production-grade Java, C#, or TypeScript solutions.
• • Proven fluency in at least one additional paradigm—object-oriented, functional, concurrent, or asynchronous—and the judgement to choose the right tool for each problem.
• • Hands-on experience with the full DevOps toolchain: Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Nexus, Docker, and cloud deployment on AWS; ability to script and automate everything.
• • Demonstrated success applying ATDD/TDD practices, writing unit, integration, and performance tests that guard against regressions in complex financial systems.
• • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field from an accredited university.
• • Comfortable operating in English-speaking, multi-functional teams; strong communicator able to explain intricate technical trade-offs to both engineers and business stakeholders.
