Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • Join Cast AI, a rapidly growing unicorn company revolutionizing cloud-native and AI infrastructure management at scale. We empower over 2,100 companies, including industry giants like Akamai, BMW, and HuggingFace, to achieve peak performance, reliability, and efficiency through autonomous decision-making embedded directly into Kubernetes and cloud environments.
  • As a Senior Software Engineer on the Karpenter team, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the integration between Karpenter, the leading open-source Kubernetes autoscaler, and the Cast AI platform. Your work will directly contribute to delivering enterprise-grade capabilities and advanced features that significantly improve application reliability, boost performance, and optimize costs for our diverse clientele.
  • This is a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between cutting-edge open-source innovation and the demanding requirements of enterprise-level cloud infrastructure. You will be instrumental in shaping how organizations leverage Karpenter effectively and at scale, making a tangible impact on their operational success.
  • Your core responsibilities will involve the design, development, and operation of robust backend services and Kubernetes operators, primarily using GoLang. You will be building the systems that manage clusters in conjunction with Karpenter, ensuring seamless and efficient operation.
  • You will actively participate in critical architecture and design decisions, contributing your expertise to shape the future of our platform. This includes influencing the direction of our technology stack and the solutions we provide to our customers.
  • The role requires you to contribute to high-volume data-plane services, including both synchronous (gRPC/REST) and asynchronous workflows. This means building systems that can handle significant traffic and complex processing demands with high reliability.
  • A key aspect of your work will be shaping both public and internal APIs. You will focus on designing APIs that are not only functional but also prioritize simplicity and an excellent developer experience, making it easier for internal teams and potentially external partners to integrate with our services.
  • You will be an integral part of a collaborative engineering culture, participating actively in design reviews and code reviews. This ensures the quality, maintainability, and scalability of our codebase.
  • You will also be involved in on-call rotations, providing essential support and troubleshooting for our production systems, and will have opportunities for occasional customer deep-dives to understand their challenges and provide tailored solutions.
  • We foster a fast-paced environment where feature projects are typically completed within 1 to 4 weeks, allowing for rapid iteration and continuous improvement. This agile approach ensures that we are always delivering value quickly to our users.
  • You will be working within a global team of cloud experts and innovators who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of Kubernetes technology. This diverse and talented group provides a rich environment for learning and collaboration.
  • The Karpenter team is at the forefront of optimizing Kubernetes autoscaling, and your contributions will directly influence the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of cloud infrastructure for businesses worldwide.
  • You will be instrumental in developing and refining features that go beyond the standard Karpenter offering, providing Cast AI customers with a competitive edge in managing their cloud resources.
  • This role demands a proactive, problem-solving mindset, coupled with a "yes we can" attitude, essential for navigating the dynamic landscape of cloud infrastructure and startup growth.
  • You will have the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art technologies and contribute to a product that is defining the future of autonomous infrastructure management.
  • Embrace the challenge of working with complex distributed systems and contribute to building highly scalable and resilient solutions.
  • Your work will directly impact the operational efficiency and cost savings for thousands of companies relying on Cast AI.
  • Be a key player in a company that has achieved unicorn status, demonstrating significant market traction and growth potential.
  • Contribute to an open-source ecosystem while building enterprise-grade solutions on top of it.
  • Drive innovation in areas like intelligent scheduling, resource optimization, and cost management within Kubernetes environments.
  • Collaborate with a team that values technical excellence, continuous learning, and a shared passion for cloud technology.
  • Help shape the roadmap and future development of the Karpenter integration within the Cast AI platform.
  • Develop a deep understanding of cloud provider specifics (AWS, GCP, Azure) and how they interact with Kubernetes and Karpenter.
  • Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence through rigorous testing, monitoring, and performance analysis.
  • Empower yourself and the team through knowledge sharing and mentorship opportunities.
  • Be part of a company that is not just building software, but actively building the future of how businesses operate in the cloud.
