đź“‹ Description
- • Join Cast AI, a rapidly growing unicorn company revolutionizing cloud-native and AI infrastructure. We empower over 2,100 companies, including industry giants like Akamai, BMW, and HuggingFace, to achieve unparalleled performance, reliability, and efficiency through autonomous decision-making embedded directly into Kubernetes and cloud environments.
- • As a Senior Software Engineer on the LIVE team, you will be at the forefront of innovation, developing and maintaining the critical infrastructure that enables seamless container live migrations. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology that ensures minimal downtime and maintains application availability for our clients' most demanding workloads.
- • Your primary focus will be on designing, developing, and implementing sophisticated live migration features. This involves a deep dive into the intricacies of containerization, distributed systems, and Kubernetes, pushing the boundaries of what's possible to achieve seamless workload transfers.
- • You will be instrumental in ensuring the platform's ability to transfer stateful workloads with zero interruption, a complex challenge requiring a profound understanding of system internals and networking.
- • This role demands a blend of strong software engineering principles, a deep understanding of systems programming, and hands-on experience with containerization technologies.
- • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, other engineering teams, and SREs, to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
- • Troubleshooting and debugging complex issues will be a significant part of your responsibilities. You'll be expected to diagnose and resolve problems related to live migration, ensuring the highest levels of platform availability and reliability.
- • Documentation is key to our success. You will be responsible for meticulously documenting design decisions, implementation details, and system behaviors to foster knowledge sharing and maintain a high-quality codebase.
- • Staying abreast of the latest advancements in cloud-native technologies, container orchestration, and systems programming is crucial. You will actively research and integrate industry best practices, tools, and techniques into our development process.
- • We encourage a culture of continuous improvement. You will actively contribute to refining our systems, processes, and tooling to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- • Code reviews are a vital part of our engineering culture. You will participate actively, providing constructive feedback to your peers and receiving it in turn, ultimately elevating the quality and maintainability of our software.
- • This role offers the chance to "hack" Kubernetes, leveraging its capabilities in ways it wasn't originally intended to solve complex problems, a testament to the innovative spirit at Cast AI.
- • You will be working with a global team, contributing to a product that has a significant international impact, operating across 34 countries.
- • The LIVE team is central to Cast AI's mission of providing autonomous infrastructure, and your contributions will directly impact the reliability and efficiency of our clients' cloud environments.
- • We value a proactive problem-solving mindset and a "yes, we can" attitude, encouraging you to tackle challenges head-on and find innovative solutions.
- • You will be part of a fast-paced environment where feature projects are typically completed within 1 to 4 weeks, allowing for rapid iteration and tangible impact.
- • This role is fully remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work from anywhere within the specified European time zones.
- • You will have the opportunity to work with GoLang, or transition to it, contributing to a modern and efficient technology stack.
- • Your work will involve deep dives into Linux internals, including process management, networking, and file systems, providing a rich learning and development experience.
- • You will gain extensive experience with IaaS building blocks across major cloud providers like AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- • The role involves working with low-level networking concepts such as NAT, iptables, and conntrack, further deepening your systems expertise.
- • You will be a key player in ensuring the seamless operation of our live migration technology, a core differentiator for Cast AI.
- • Your efforts will directly contribute to the cost savings and efficiency gains our customers achieve through Cast AI's autonomous infrastructure solutions.
- • This is an opportunity to join a company that has achieved unicorn status and is poised for significant future growth, offering a dynamic and rewarding career path.
🎯 Requirements
- • Strong software engineering skills with experience in distributed systems and backend development, ideally in GoLang, but a willingness to transition to it is sufficient.
- • Deep knowledge of low-level Linux details, process level and below, including networking and filesystems.
- • Experience with the network stack, very comfortable with OSI layers and Software Defined Networks.
- • Proficient in debugging, optimization, and performance-tuning of applications.
- • Experience with IaaS building blocks in any of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- • Deep Kubernetes experience is a huge plus, as a big part of the role is hacking Kubernetes to do what it wasn't intended to do.
- • Located in any European country within the GMT +0 to GMT +3 time zones and comfortable working fully remote.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary (€6,500 - €9,000 gross, depending on the level of experience).
- • Flexible, remote-first global environment.
- • Equity options.
- • 10% of your work time dedicated to personal projects or self-improvement.
- • Learning budget for professional and personal development, including access to international conferences and courses.
- • Equipment budget to ensure you have everything you need.
