- • As a Senior Software Engineer on the OpenShift Networking team at Red Hat, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cloud-native networking solutions. You will be instrumental in the design, architecture, and implementation of cutting-edge networking capabilities for Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat's flagship Kubernetes platform. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a globally distributed team, collaborating closely with fellow engineers and across Red Hat's platform engineering divisions to deliver robust and scalable networking solutions.
- • Your core responsibilities will involve the end-to-end development lifecycle of networking features. This includes conceptualizing new functionalities, writing high-quality code, and ensuring the reliability and performance of our offerings. You will be deeply involved in the quality assurance process, actively participating in peer code reviews to maintain code integrity and foster knowledge sharing. Furthermore, you will contribute to our continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines, ensuring that our software is consistently deployable and production-ready. A critical aspect of this role is also responding to and mitigating security threats, such as Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVEs), to safeguard our platforms.
- • A significant part of your contribution will be to the vibrant open-source community. You will actively participate in, lead, and help create upstream networking project communities. This involves contributing new development work, as well as providing essential fixes and enhancements to existing features for critical projects like Kubernetes, OVN-Kubernetes, Multus CNI, and Open Virtual Networking (OVN). Your expertise will directly influence the direction and evolution of these foundational open-source technologies.
- • You will leverage your deep networking expertise to not only develop but also to assist customers in overcoming complex business challenges. By understanding their unique requirements, you will devise and implement creative, effective networking solutions that drive their success.
- • This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, where you will tackle intricate technical issues and architect well-structured, maintainable, and scalable solutions. You will be expected to integrate automated testing, establish quality gates, and implement robust observability into our CI/CD pipelines. This ensures that the software we deliver is not only functional but also reliable, maintainable, and optimized for production environments.
- • You will also be encouraged to explore and leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, such as Claude and Cursor, throughout the product development lifecycle. This includes using AI for code generation, debugging, documentation, and enhancing overall developer productivity, aligning with Red Hat's commitment to innovation.
- • Collaboration is key in this distributed team environment. You will work effectively both independently and in close partnership with colleagues across different time zones and functional areas. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely in English will be essential for seamless collaboration and knowledge transfer.
- • By joining the OpenShift Networking team, you will be at the forefront of cloud-native technology, contributing to a product that powers some of the world's most critical applications and services. Your work will have a direct impact on the scalability, security, and performance of enterprise cloud environments globally.
