- • Parafin is on a mission to empower small businesses by providing them with essential financial tools through the platforms they already use. We are seeking a highly skilled and user-focused Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic Partner Platform team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in architecting and developing industry-leading, developer-first experiences that form the bedrock of our partner integrations. You will be at the forefront of shaping how our partners interact with Parafin, ensuring a seamless and powerful integration experience.
- • The Partner Platform team is responsible for the core systems that enable and manage all partner integrations. This encompasses the design, development, and operation of robust data ingestion pipelines, sophisticated DAG-based processing systems, public-facing APIs that define our integration capabilities, resilient webhook delivery infrastructure for real-time updates, secure sandbox environments for testing, and tailored partner-specific integrations. Your work will directly impact how effectively our partners can leverage Parafin's financial solutions for their end-users.
- • A significant aspect of your role will involve close collaboration with engineering and data teams to guarantee the reliability and accuracy of partner data. This data is critical for powering our underwriting processes, risk evaluation models, and comprehensive reporting workflows. You will contribute to ensuring that the data flowing through our systems is not only accurate but also readily available and actionable for these vital functions.
- • Our roadmap is ambitious and includes substantial platform modernization efforts. You will play a key role in evolving our data architecture to support greater scalability and efficiency, and in strengthening the reliability and performance of our asynchronous, event-driven systems. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the technical foundation of Parafin.
- • We are looking for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You will need to demonstrate strong technical fundamentals, a proven ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence, and a commitment to taking ownership of projects from their initial conception through to successful completion. Your contributions will be vital in building the future of financial services for small businesses.
- • Key responsibilities will include taking ownership of critical components within our partner platform infrastructure. This includes the intricate systems responsible for partner data ingestion, secure data sharing mechanisms, the public APIs that serve as our integration gateway, and the external webhook delivery systems that ensure timely notifications. You will also lead exciting new initiatives that enhance our partner-facing interfaces, making them more intuitive and powerful.
- • You will be a driving force behind impactful product initiatives, directly aligning with our product vision for an exceptional partner journey. This includes contributing to the development of the partner-facing dashboard, enhancing our developer tooling to streamline integration, refining our data integration capabilities, and strengthening the underlying platform systems that manage data ingestion, API interactions, and real-time partner updates.
- • Collaboration is key. You will work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders across the company, including product managers, designers, and other engineering teams, to prioritize roadmaps, design innovative new products, and execute on strategic experiments. Your ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively will be essential.
- • A core part of your work will involve the design and operation of sophisticated asynchronous, event-driven systems. These systems are crucial for reliably processing vast amounts of partner data and delivering real-time updates to partner systems, ensuring that our partners always have the most current information.
- • You will contribute to building and maintaining robust testing environments, including our sandbox environments, ensuring that partners can thoroughly test their integrations before going live. This meticulous approach to quality assurance is paramount.
- • You will be involved in the continuous improvement of our systems, identifying opportunities for performance optimization, enhanced security, and increased scalability. This includes staying abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in backend and platform engineering.
- • Your expertise will be sought in troubleshooting complex issues that may arise within the partner platform, requiring a deep understanding of distributed systems and data flows.
- • You will actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and ensuring adherence to high coding standards and architectural principles.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the technical direction of a rapidly growing company and to build foundational systems that directly impact the success of thousands of small businesses.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend or platform systems.
- • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science (or a related field).
- • Proven experience building and operating asynchronous systems or data pipelines in production environments.
- • Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- • Demonstrated ability to own and drive the development of initiatives from scratch, identifying commonalities and designing appropriate abstractions.
