Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Join Cast AI, a rapidly growing unicorn in the cloud-native and AI infrastructure automation space, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of autonomous systems. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Platform Team, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining the core internal foundation that powers our cutting-edge product. This is a unique opportunity to work on a highly scalable, reliable, and observable platform that enables our engineering teams to innovate rapidly and focus on delivering exceptional features, rather than getting bogged down by infrastructure complexities.
  • • The Platform Team is the bedrock of Cast AI, ensuring that our internal systems are robust, efficient, and ready to support the company's exponential growth. We are responsible for providing a seamless and powerful environment for all engineering efforts, from development and testing to production deployment and monitoring. Your contributions will directly impact the speed and quality of our product delivery, making this a highly visible and impactful role.
  • • In this position, you will dive deep into critical areas of platform engineering. A significant focus will be on enhancing our Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices. This involves defining and enforcing clear boundaries between core platform infrastructure and team-specific resources, enabling the repeatable and automated creation of environments for various purposes, including rigorous testing, robust disaster recovery strategies, and seamless production deployments. You will be instrumental in ensuring consistency and reliability across all our environments.
  • • Furthermore, you will be a key player in evolving our Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelines. We are actively reworking these pipelines to enhance their reliability, flexibility, and scalability, preparing them to support the company's next phase of aggressive growth. This includes optimizing deployment strategies, improving rollback mechanisms, and ensuring that our release process is as smooth and efficient as possible.
  • • Another crucial aspect of your role will be to contribute to our Observability stack. You will focus on improving the reliability and scalability of our internal monitoring and logging systems, which currently leverage tools like Prometheus, Loki, and Tempo. Ensuring that our platform provides deep insights into system performance and health is paramount as the company expands its user base and product complexity.
  • • You will collaborate closely with other engineering teams to understand their needs and provide them with the tools and services they require to succeed. This involves proactive communication, architectural design, and hands-on implementation of platform components. Your ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical, scalable solutions will be essential.
  • • We foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. You will have the opportunity to explore new technologies, propose architectural changes, and contribute to the long-term vision of our platform. The fast-paced nature of our work means that most feature projects are completed within 1 to 4 weeks, allowing for rapid iteration and tangible results.
  • • As a Senior Software Engineer, you are expected to bring a strong problem-solving aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a production environment. You will mentor junior engineers, share best practices, and contribute to a culture of technical excellence. Your proactive approach and a “yes, we can” attitude will be highly valued as we tackle challenging problems and push the boundaries of what's possible in cloud infrastructure automation.
  • • This role offers a unique chance to work with a global team of cloud experts and innovators who are passionate about Kubernetes technology. You will be part of a company that has achieved unicorn status and is poised for significant future growth, providing a stable yet dynamic environment for your career development.
  • • You will be empowered to spend 10% of your work time on personal projects or self-improvement, fostering continuous learning and skill development. We also provide a generous learning budget for professional and personal growth, including access to international conferences and courses. An annual hackathon encourages innovation and team bonding, while team-building budgets and company events help strengthen our global community.
  • • We believe in empowering our engineers with the right tools, which is why we offer an equipment budget. Additionally, extra days off are provided to ensure a healthy work-life balance, recognizing the importance of well-being in sustained high performance. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact at a company that values its people and is building the future of autonomous infrastructure.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Strong software engineering skills, with a preference for Go, but a willingness to transition to Go is acceptable if you have a solid foundation in other backend languages.
  • • Proven experience in platform engineering, including hands-on work with CI/CD systems (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Argo CD), Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform), and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Helm, Docker).
  • • Experience building and managing IaaS components on major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a demonstrated capacity to troubleshoot complex issues in production environments.
  • • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • • Must be physically located in a European country within the GMT 0 to GMT +3 time zones.
  • • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a distributed team.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary ranging from €6,500 to €9,000 gross per month, commensurate with experience.
  • • Flexible, remote-first global work environment.
  • • Equity options in a rapidly growing unicorn company.
  • • Generous learning budget for professional development, including access to international conferences and courses.
  • • 10% of your work time dedicated to personal projects or self-improvement.
  • • Annual hackathon, team-building budget, and company events.
  • • Equipment and team-building budgets.
  • • Extra days off for work-life balance.
