Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Architect and own critical, revenue-generating services that move billions of dollars annually between retailers, consumers, and a network of global banks. Your code will be the backbone of a platform trusted by Fortune-500 merchants and millions of shoppers.
- • Design, build, and harden high-throughput Ruby on Rails monoliths and Go micro-services that process thousands of financial transactions per second with sub-second latency and 99.99 % uptime. You will model complex money-movement workflows, implement idempotent APIs, and guarantee ACID compliance across distributed systems.
- • Lead the end-to-end delivery of new product capabilities—from whiteboard sketches to production rollout—working shoulder-to-shoulder with product managers, designers, QA, and risk & compliance teams. Translate regulatory requirements (PCI-DSS, SOC 2, PSD2) into elegant, secure software designs.
- • Champion code quality and reliability: maintain our 95 % RSpec coverage bar, enforce rigorous pull-request reviews, and introduce property-based and contract tests where appropriate. You will instrument services with distributed tracing, metrics, and alerting so anomalies are caught before customers feel them.
- • Make pragmatic architectural trade-offs daily—deciding when to extract a service, shard a database, or adopt an event-driven pattern—while balancing velocity, cost, and long-term scalability. Your decisions will directly influence the company’s ability to enter new markets and onboard new banking partners without rewrites.
- • Own the production lifecycle: build CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD), automate blue-green and canary deployments, and participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation. When alerts fire, you debug live traffic, coordinate incident response, and author blameless post-mortems that turn outages into durable improvements.
- • Mentor and level-up a distributed team of mid-level and junior engineers through pair programming, architecture reviews, and career-development plans. You will establish coding standards, lead weekly tech talks, and create reusable libraries that accelerate every squad.
- • Continuously optimize for performance and cost: profile Ruby and Go runtimes, tune Postgres queries, leverage read replicas, and experiment with new data stores (e.g., CockroachDB, Aurora) to shave milliseconds and dollars off every transaction.
- • Collaborate with external bank and fintech partners to design secure, mutually beneficial integrations. You will map legacy file formats to modern REST/JSON, implement OAuth 2.0 and mTLS, and ensure every webhook and API call is idempotent and replay-safe.
- • Contribute to the open-source community by extracting internal gems and Go modules, writing blog posts, and speaking at meetups—raising the company’s engineering brand while giving back to the ecosystem that powers us.
