Full Job Description

📋 Description

  • Join Cast AI, a rapidly growing unicorn company revolutionizing cloud-native and AI infrastructure management. We are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to focus on Workload Optimization (WOOP), a critical area that automates resource management for cloud-native applications. This role is instrumental in helping our customers significantly reduce cloud costs and enhance application reliability through intelligent, autonomous decision-making embedded directly into their Kubernetes and cloud environments.
  • As a Senior Software Engineer on the WOOP team, you will be at the forefront of developing and enhancing our platform's capabilities to dynamically adjust resource allocations for workloads. You will tackle complex challenges related to performance, scalability, and efficiency in large-scale cloud deployments. Your work will directly impact the operational costs and stability of thousands of companies, including industry leaders like Akamai, BMW, and HuggingFace.
  • You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust backend services and features that drive our workload optimization engine. This involves deep dives into system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and developing innovative solutions to optimize resource utilization. The goal is to replace manual tuning and reactive alert management with continuous, adaptive automation that responds to changing infrastructure conditions.
  • Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with product managers, other engineering teams, and potentially customer-facing roles to understand user needs and translate them into effective technical solutions. You'll contribute to architectural decisions, code reviews, and the overall technical direction of the WOOP product.
  • The technologies you'll be working with are state-of-the-art and include GoLang as the primary language, with Python used for specific tasks. You'll leverage Kubernetes for orchestration, and gain hands-on experience with major cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure. Our infrastructure relies on PostgreSQL for data storage and cloud object storage for various needs. Communication within our systems is handled via GCP Pub/Sub and gRPC, while our public APIs utilize REST.
  • We are passionate about observability, so you will be working with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and Tempo to monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot our systems. Our development process is streamlined with GitLab CI and GitOps practices using ArgoCD, ensuring efficient and reliable deployments.
  • This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of autonomous infrastructure. You will be empowered to take ownership of features, drive technical initiatives, and contribute to a product that is fundamentally changing how businesses manage their cloud resources. The fast-paced nature of our startup environment means you'll see the impact of your work quickly, with most feature projects completed within 1 to 4 weeks.
  • You will be expected to contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, from conception and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. This includes writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code, as well as developing comprehensive test suites to ensure the quality and reliability of your contributions.
  • The ideal candidate possesses strong software engineering fundamentals, a deep understanding of distributed systems, and a proven ability to debug and optimize complex systems. Experience with cloud platforms and container orchestration is essential, as is a proactive, problem-solving mindset. We value individuals who are adaptable, comfortable with ambiguity, and possess a "yes we can" attitude, embodying the startup spirit that drives Cast AI's success.
  • By joining Cast AI, you become part of a global, diverse team committed to innovation and excellence. You'll have the opportunity to work alongside cloud experts and innovators, contributing to a product that is not only technically challenging but also delivers significant value to our customers. We foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging personal projects and professional development.

🎯 Requirements

  • Strong software engineering skills with experience in distributed systems and backend development, ideally in GoLang, but willingness to transition is acceptable.
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  • Proven debugging, optimization, and performance-tuning skills for complex systems.
  • Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.

🏖️ Benefits

  • Competitive salary (€6,500 - €9,000 gross per month, depending on experience).
  • Flexible, remote-first global work environment.
  • Equity options and private health insurance.
  • Learning budget for professional development, including conferences and courses.
