• • As a Senior Solution Delivery Architect specializing in Mainframe Hardware Configuration at Ensono, you will be at the forefront of designing and implementing robust mainframe environments for our diverse clientele. Your primary responsibility will be the intricate configuration of critical mainframe hardware components, including HCD (Hardware Configuration Definition), IOGEN (I/O Generation), and IOCP (I/O Configuration Program). This role is pivotal during new client migrations, where you will serve as the lead technical expert responsible for meticulously replicating existing client environments within Ensono's state-of-the-art data centers, ensuring a seamless transition and minimal disruption.
• • You will act as a key escalation point for complex mainframe hardware issues. This includes diagnosing and resolving problems related to failed Tape Drives, offline devices, and critical 'Call Home' alerts, ensuring the continuous availability and optimal performance of client systems. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the integrity and functionality of these high-availability environments.
• • A significant aspect of your role will involve coordinating and executing hardware Maintenance Engineering Changes (MESs). This requires a deep understanding of mainframe hardware lifecycles and the ability to plan and implement upgrades and modifications to existing client hardware. You will be responsible for overseeing hardware lifecycle activities, including the upgrade of Mainframe CPUs, Direct Access Storage Devices (DASD), and Tape subsystems, ensuring that our clients benefit from the latest technological advancements and maintain optimal performance and capacity.
• • You will define and generate mainframe equipment configurations to be connected to Mainframe CPUs, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance. This involves detailed planning and execution of the hardware setup, adhering to strict technical specifications and client requirements.
• • Your responsibilities extend to supporting existing mainframe equipment, addressing functionality issues, performing break/fix resolutions, and implementing necessary upgrades to maintain system health and efficiency.
• • A critical part of your role will be evaluating client systems to assess their suitability for migration into Ensono data centers. This involves a thorough technical analysis of their current infrastructure to ensure a successful and efficient integration process.
• • You will also evaluate proposed technical solutions to ensure their supportability and alignment with Ensono's service delivery standards before they are presented to clients. This proactive approach ensures that solutions are not only technically sound but also maintainable and scalable.
• • You will lead new customer hardware migrations and current client hardware upgrades with a high degree of autonomy, demonstrating leadership and technical proficiency. This requires the ability to manage complex projects and guide teams through challenging technical transitions.
• • You will possess and apply an above-average understanding of the network connectivity requirements for the mainframe, DASD, and Tape subsystem Hardware Management Consoles (HMCs), ensuring robust and reliable communication pathways.
• • You will interact effectively with account management and project managers, providing technical expertise and support to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
• • Collaboration with vendors and geographically dispersed Data Center support staff and implementation teams will be a key part of your role, fostering strong working relationships and ensuring coordinated efforts.
• • You will leverage strong analytical, problem definition, and problem resolution skills to tackle complex technical challenges and develop effective solutions.
• • Adherence to multiple IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and procedures is essential, alongside proficient use of tools like Excel, Visio, and MS Project or their equivalents.
• • You will evaluate proposed architectures for supportability before sharing them with clients, ensuring long-term viability and ease of maintenance.
• • Designing hardware solutions that precisely meet client and business requirements will be a core function of your role.
• • You will build and maintain mainframe Disaster Recovery (DR) configurations for multiple clients across various Recovery Facilities, ensuring business continuity.
• • Participation in Disaster Recovery Tests is mandatory to validate DR plans and ensure readiness.
• • You will gain familiarity with data encryption technologies on the mainframe and utilize tools like Putty for system access and management.
• • A significant leadership component involves mentoring and training junior Hardware Configuration team members, fostering skill development within the team.
