- • As a Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Platform team, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the resilience, reliability, and scalability of Monzo's core infrastructure and services.
- • This is a highly technical, individual contributor (IC) leadership position with company-wide influence, driving technical strategy and execution across multiple engineering collectives.

- • Partner closely with the Engineering Director for Platform and other senior engineers to provide technical leadership and strategic direction for resiliency initiatives across the entire organization.
- • Develop and champion best practices, patterns, and tooling that make building and operating resilient systems the default and easiest choice for all engineers at Monzo.
- • Foster a strong culture of reliability, where every engineer feels empowered and supported to design, build, and operate systems that can perform at a global scale.
- • Maintain a broad understanding of various workstreams within the Platform collective, enabling you to offer insightful technical advice and constructive challenges to fellow engineers.
- • Lead architectural discussions for the most complex and critical systems within the collective, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, and optimized for Monzo's unique context.
- • Act as a champion for high engineering standards, celebrating team successes while providing actionable, constructive feedback to drive continuous improvement.
- • Cultivate a culture of quality and proactive testing, making it easier for teams to implement comprehensive testing strategies.
- • Mentor, sponsor, and up-level engineers within the team and across the wider engineering organization, contributing to their professional growth and technical development.
- • Contribute to Monzo's open-source efforts, sharing knowledge and best practices with the wider tech community.
- • Work with a modern technology stack including Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, GCP, React, and Feast.

🎯 Requirements
- • Significant professional experience in software engineering, demonstrated by writing, testing, and deploying robust backend services using strongly typed languages.
- • Hands-on experience working with AWS and/or GCP, and proficiency with Kubernetes, including deep experience designing and maintaining global, resilient systems in the cloud.
- • Natural inclination to solve problems through automation and experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
- • Deep curiosity about systems, enjoyment of diving deep to investigate complex issues, and understanding of how modern distributed applications fail and scale.
