- • As a Senior UX Designer at Pattern, Inc., you will be at the forefront of shaping exceptional digital experiences for our global e-commerce platform. You will play a pivotal role in understanding our users, defining complex problems, and translating those insights into intuitive, effective, and visually compelling solutions. This role demands a blend of deep user empathy, strategic thinking, and hands-on design execution, all within a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to champion the user throughout the entire design lifecycle. This begins with conducting comprehensive user research using a variety of methodologies. You will engage directly with users through interviews, conduct rigorous usability testing sessions, deploy surveys to gather quantitative data, and employ shadowing techniques to observe user behavior in context. The critical next step is synthesizing these diverse findings into clear, actionable insights that will directly inform and guide your design decisions.
- • You will be instrumental in the design of solutions, employing an iterative feedback process to refine and enhance your work. This involves a deep dive into understanding and clearly defining problems before embarking on the creation of detailed design artifacts. Your deliverables will include comprehensive user flows, intricate user journeys, robust information architecture, precise wireframes, and interactive prototypes. These elements will serve to meticulously document and clearly articulate the design requirements for development teams.
- • Collaboration is key to success in this role. You will work effectively and cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other stakeholders to ensure that design solutions are not only user-centric but also technically feasible and aligned with business objectives. You will be a strong advocate for user needs and the core principles of user experience, ensuring that the voice of the user is heard and respected in all decision-making processes.
- • A significant aspect of this position involves mentoring and providing constructive feedback to other members of the design team. You will foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning, helping to elevate the overall design capabilities within the organization. You will also be expected to work within and contribute to our established in-house design system, ensuring consistency and quality across our products, while also proactively identifying and proposing enhancements to further strengthen it.
- • Effective communication of both complex problems and proposed solutions is paramount. You will articulate your design rationale clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences, from fellow designers to executive leadership. Participation in cross-functional design critiques with other designers will be a regular part of your workflow, providing and receiving valuable feedback to elevate the quality of our collective work.
- • You will develop a nuanced understanding of how our digital solutions integrate seamlessly with our operational and other physical processes. This holistic perspective is crucial for ensuring the continuity and overall quality of the product experience, from the initial digital interaction to the final physical delivery.
- • A core component of this role is the continuous development of an expert understanding of worldwide e-commerce marketplaces and their supporting logistics. You will stay informed on the competitive landscape, analyzing competitor strategies and user experiences, and applying these insights appropriately to inform our own product development and design strategies.
- • This role requires a Master's degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Visual Design, Industrial Design, Psychology, or a closely related field. You should possess a strong foundational knowledge of UX responsibilities, encompassing user research, user journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, UX writing, problem-solving, and the adept application of iterative design processes informed by feedback and data.
- • Proficiency in Figma is essential, including extensive experience in developing wireframes, interactive prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity designs. You should also have a solid understanding of various user research methodologies, such as user interviews, usability testing, and surveys, coupled with the proven ability to synthesize findings into actionable design insights.
- • Familiarity with designing for both desktop and mobile interfaces is expected, along with an understanding of project management tools to effectively track projects and timelines. You must possess the technical proficiency to effectively utilize and contribute to an established design system. Furthermore, you should be skilled in designing experiences that seamlessly integrate with current operational and physical processes, demonstrating a holistic approach to product design.
