Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Serve as the hands-on Workday administrator responsible for day-to-day configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Handshake’s Workday tenant across HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Time & Absence, Payroll, and Integrations.
- • Own end-to-end configuration of core business processes including hiring, promotions, transfers, terminations, and supervisory org structures using custom objects, validation rules, conditional routing, notifications, and delegation.
- • Build, maintain, and security-tune custom reports and dashboards used by HRBPs, Compensation, Finance, and executive leadership, translating ambiguous requests (e.g., "who’s exempt from RTO?" or "monthly Europe-only census") into precise, durable data models with calculated fields.
- • Lead mass data operations including re-orgs, performance cycles, compensation adjustments, RIFs, and other bulk changes using EIBs, ensuring clean execution with rigorous testing in Sandbox and Preview environments before promoting to Production.
- • Coordinate timing and data synchronization with downstream systems such as Okta, Slack, GitHub, Datadog, and Linear to ensure seamless integration and avoid operational disruptions during large-scale workforce changes.
- • Audit and improve tenant hygiene by maintaining accurate data for organizations, supervisory orgs, locations, cost centers, job profiles, comp grades, and reference IDs; lead periodic tenant health checks.
- • Manage simple integrations (e.g., Workday–Slack) and serve as the primary point of contact for external Workday consultants on complex integration projects outside core scope.
- • Act as the trusted technical advisor to the People Systems lead, providing clear assessments of feasibility, effort (LOE), risks, and tradeoffs for all Workday-related requests from HR, Compensation, Payroll, Talent Acquisition, IT, and Engineering Operations.
- • Translate ambiguous or high-level business requirements from HR partners into actionable, Workday-native solutions with documented specifications and rollout plans.
- • Collaborate closely with People Operations, HRBPs, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, and cross-functional teams to ensure Workday configurations align with operational needs and compliance standards.
- • Maintain deep expertise in Core HCM and ideally one additional module (Compensation, Benefits, Time & Absence, or Payroll), handling most operational work internally while leveraging external consultants for highly technical or cross-module projects.
- • Ensure all Workday configurations and data practices adhere to internal governance standards and support scalability as Handshake grows its global workforce.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5–8+ years of hands-on Workday administration with deep Core HCM expertise
- • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership of business process configuration including custom objects, validation rules, conditional routing, delegation, and notifications
- • Strong experience building and maintaining custom reports, calculated fields, and security-tuned datasets for HR and executive stakeholders
- • Proven ability to lead mass data operations (RIFs, re-orgs, compensation cycles) with disciplined Sandbox-to-Production rigor and awareness of downstream system impacts
- • Excellent stakeholder management skills: ability to take ambiguous HR or executive requests and deliver clear specs, builds, and rollout plans
- • Comfort working independently in a small, high-trust People team with shifting priorities
🏖️ Benefits
- • Equity in a fast-growing company
- • 401(k) match, competitive compensation, and financial coaching
- • Paid parental leave, fertility benefits, and parental coaching
- • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, mental health support, and $500 wellness stipend
- • $2,000 learning stipend for ongoing professional development
- • Internet and commuting stipends, free lunch and gym access in SF office, flexible PTO, 15 holidays + 2 flex days, team outings, and referral bonuses
