- • In this critical role, you will be instrumental in managing onX's core infrastructure platform, driving deployment automation, and enhancing observability through the strategic implementation of infrastructure-as-code principles.

- • You will report directly to the Principal Site Reliability Engineer, collaborating closely with a team dedicated to operational excellence and innovation.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities will encompass deploying, meticulously monitoring, and maintaining highly available systems, utilizing a sophisticated technology stack including Terraform, CockroachDB, and a comprehensive suite of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services.
- • This includes hands-on experience with GKE (Kubernetes), Cloud SQL, Bigtable, Google Composer (Airflow), Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Run, ensuring the seamless operation of our cloud-native environment.
- • A significant aspect of your role will involve maintaining and extending our large, mature Terraform codebase, ensuring its scalability, maintainability, and adherence to best practices in infrastructure management.
- • You will be tasked with analyzing existing systems to identify opportunities for performance enhancements, availability improvements, and cost optimization, making data-driven recommendations to stakeholders.
- • A key objective is to automate manual systems and processes wherever possible, minimizing toil and freeing up valuable engineering time for more strategic initiatives.
- • You will develop and maintain critical integrations with third-party monitoring and alerting systems, such as Google Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Checkly, and Rootly, to ensure comprehensive visibility and rapid response capabilities.
- • Driving incident response best practices across onX will be a core responsibility, including active participation in the SRE team's on-call rotation for critical core infrastructure.
- • You will actively collaborate in architectural decision-making processes, contributing to the strategic direction of our services and the evolution of our technology landscape.
- • This role offers the flexibility to work from an onX corporate office in Montana (Missoula or Bozeman), or as part of our distributed workforce community within established "Basecamps" or emerging "Connection Hubs" across the US, fostering a healthy work-life balance and connection.
