Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the full lifecycle of Vultr’s Marketplace Applications—from ideation and prioritization through automated build, test, and release—so customers can deploy production-grade stacks in under 60 seconds.
- • Analyze customer inquiries, market trends, and competitive intelligence to curate a rolling 12-month roadmap of new marketplace offerings that align with Vultr’s growth targets and AI-centric positioning.
- • Author and maintain Bash/PHP automation scripts that transform vanilla OS images into hardened, pre-configured application snapshots, ensuring every marketplace entry is secure, performant, and immediately usable.
- • Serve as the primary technical liaison for third-party ISVs and open-source communities, guiding them through onboarding, architecture reviews, and quality gates while translating their requirements into actionable engineering tasks.
- • Build reproducible Infrastructure-as-Code blueprints in Terraform, Ansible, and HashiCorp Packer that allow internal teams and external partners to spin up identical environments for development, staging, and customer demos.
- • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab CI and GitHub Actions that automatically lint, unit-test, integration-test, and publish marketplace images nightly, cutting release cycles from weeks to hours.
- • Produce crystal-clear documentation—deployment guides, architecture diagrams, troubleshooting runbooks, and API references—that empowers both customers and support engineers to resolve issues without escalation.
- • Partner with Developer Relations to create blog posts, live streams, and sample repositories that showcase advanced use cases (e.g., GPU-accelerated AI inference stacks, multi-region Kubernetes clusters) and drive adoption.
- • Instrument marketplace applications with Prometheus exporters and Grafana dashboards, then feed real-world telemetry back to product and engineering teams to prioritize platform enhancements and bug fixes.
- • Champion security best practices by embedding CIS benchmarks, automatic patching workflows, and least-privilege IAM policies into every marketplace image, reducing customer attack surfaces and compliance friction.
- • Provide tier-3 escalation support for marketplace-related tickets, reproducing complex customer environments on demand and turning root-cause analyses into permanent fixes or self-healing automation.
- • Continuously refactor legacy marketplace entries to leverage cloud-init, modern systemd units, and immutable infrastructure patterns, ensuring consistent behavior across Vultr’s 32 global data-center regions.
- • Contribute to internal tooling in Python, Go, or Rust that accelerates image validation, cost estimation, and automated regression testing, raising the bar for reliability and developer velocity.
- • Present quarterly business reviews to leadership, translating technical metrics (deployment success rate, average time-to-deploy, NPS) into revenue impact and strategic recommendations for the broader platform.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years of professional experience writing Bash and PHP automation scripts in Linux environments
- • Deep Linux system-administration expertise: package management (apt/yum), systemd services, kernel tuning, and security hardening
- • Proven hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools—Terraform, Ansible, and HashiCorp Packer—in production environments
- • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab Runners or GitHub Actions
- • Solid grasp of L2/L3 networking fundamentals: VLANs, subnetting, routing tables, iptables, and cloud firewalls
- • Nice to have: proficiency in Python, Go, or Rust for advanced tooling; familiarity with cloud-init, Prometheus/Grafana, and observability stacks
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with flexible hours and asynchronous workflows, allowing you to work from any of Vultr’s 32 global regions or your favorite home office
- • Competitive salary benchmarked to top-tier US tech companies plus equity in a $3.5 billion-valued, privately held cloud leader
- • Annual professional-development stipend for conferences, certifications, and courses—grow your skills in cloud-native, AI/ML, or security domains
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage for you and dependents, plus a generous PTO policy that encourages true unplugged rest
