📋 Description

• As a Software Development Manager at ShareGate, you will build a new engineering team from the ground up focused on modernizing the company’s Microsoft 365 migration and governance platform, setting technical direction while staying hands-on with code and architecture.
• Day to day, you will hire, onboard, and develop engineers; define and drive technical strategy for platform modernization; oversee the full software development lifecycle; contribute hands-on to code, design, and quality; and drive engineering excellence in testing, security, observability, reliability, and performance.
• You will join ShareGate, a leading Microsoft 365 migration and governance platform trusted by over 100,000 IT professionals, developed by Workleap Technologies, a Montréal-based software company known for blending creativity and tech to solve real IT and HR problems.
• In this role, you will shape team culture and technical standards from scratch, modernize legacy systems, reduce technical debt at scale, collaborate closely with Product and Design, and grow as a technical leader influencing peers and directors while contributing to departmental strategic planning.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years as a Software Development Manager with a strong background as a software developer
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
• Proven experience leading modernization efforts, including legacy migration, re-architecture, or meaningful technical debt reduction at scale
• Experience building teams from the ground up, including hiring, onboarding, and developing engineers
• Comfortable with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or Lean) and pragmatic in application
• Deep engineering fundamentals: able to set standards, review work credibly, and raise the bar across a team
