- • As a Software Development Manager at Workleap Inc., you will build a new engineering team from the ground up focused on modernizing ShareGate’s architecture, setting technical direction, and shipping high-quality software while staying close to the code.
- • Day to day, you will hire, onboard, and develop engineers; define and drive technical direction for platform modernization; oversee the full software development lifecycle with hands-on contributions in code, design, and quality; drive engineering excellence in testing, security, observability, reliability, and performance; manage technical debt; coach team members through 1:1s and performance reviews; partner with Product and Design to deliver pragmatic solutions; and contribute to departmental strategic planning.
- • Workleap is a Montreal-based tech company founded in 2006 with a mission to make work simpler, operating two product lines: the AI-powered Workleap Platform for HR and ShareGate, the leading Microsoft 365 migration and governance solution trusted by over 20,000 companies worldwide.
- • In this role, you will shape a new team’s culture and technical standards from day one, grow as a hands-on engineering leader, deepen your expertise in legacy modernization and re-architecture, and influence cross-functional collaboration while contributing to ShareGate’s next chapter of growth.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3+ years as a Software Development Manager with a strong background as a software developer
- • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
- • Proven experience leading modernization efforts, including legacy migration, re-architecture, or meaningful technical debt reduction at scale
- • Experience building teams from the ground up, including hiring, onboarding, and developing engineers
- • Deep engineering fundamentals: able to set standards, review work credibly, and raise the bar across a team
- • Comfortable with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, or Lean) and pragmatic in application
