  • • Join the Core Platform team at Sift Science, Inc., a dynamic group responsible for the foundational data, infrastructure, messaging, and services that power our cutting-edge online systems. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the unwavering availability, reliability, and peak performance of these critical systems, directly impacting our ability to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • • As a Software Engineer on this team, you will be at the forefront of designing and constructing highly resilient and fault-tolerant infrastructure. This includes building immutable systems and architecting multi-Availability Zone (AZ) and multi-region deployments that are inherently self-healing and capable of withstanding failures.
  • • A key responsibility will be the implementation of sophisticated multi-region deployment strategies. This involves managing complex distributed databases, such as BigTable clusters, across multiple geographic regions. You will develop and implement precise routing mechanisms, like sticky sessions at the regional level, to ensure specific customers are consistently directed to their designated operational regions, guaranteeing a seamless and predictable user experience.
  • • You will play a crucial role in enhancing the developer experience by optimizing local development and testing workflows. The goal is to create environments that are not only fast and efficient but also seamlessly integrated, allowing engineers to iterate quickly and effectively.
  • • Furthermore, you will be instrumental in creating dynamic, real-time environments that facilitate seamless interaction between various services and different operational environments. This capability is essential for maintaining the agility and responsiveness of our platform.
  • • The development of automated bot solutions will be a significant part of your work, focusing on streamlining deployment processes and enhancing monitoring capabilities. Integration with communication platforms like Slack will ensure that critical updates and alerts are disseminated efficiently to the relevant teams.
  • • You will be an integral part of our on-call rotation, providing essential support and incident response for our core systems. This involves a 12/7 coverage commitment, with approximately one week of on-call duty every 3-4 weeks, ensuring rapid resolution of any production issues.
  • • Your technical contributions will leverage a robust and modern technology stack, including Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS), with extensive use of Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform. Containerization and orchestration will be managed through Kubernetes, with secrets management handled by Vault. CI/CD pipelines will be built using Jenkins, and messaging and data warehousing will utilize Kafka and Snowflake, respectively. Data processing will involve Spark, and you will primarily use Java and Python 3 for development.
  • • We are looking for individuals who possess a profound understanding of large-scale computing principles and who view infrastructure management through the lens of code. A passion for building immutable infrastructure and architecting resilient, multi-AZ/multi-region systems that are designed to self-heal is highly valued.
  • • While robust monitoring and alerting are recognized as important, the ultimate objective is to engineer systems that proactively prevent failures and recover autonomously. This proactive approach minimizes downtime and ensures a superior customer experience.
