  • • As a Software Engineer 2 on the Gateway Enterprise team, you will be an integral part of a dynamic group responsible for developing and enhancing Kong's core product offerings. Your role will involve tackling complex technical challenges, contributing to both our open-source and enterprise products, and playing a key part in shaping the technical direction of our platform. You will have the chance to dive deep into distributed systems, optimize performance, and ensure the reliability and security of our solutions.
  • • A significant portion of your work will focus on our proxy stack, which is built upon Nginx/OpenResty. This requires a strong understanding of web server architecture, performance tuning, and distributed systems principles. You will be responsible for organizing and prioritizing complex problem resolution, debugging intricate issues within distributed services, and implementing effective solutions to ensure seamless operation.
  • • You will be instrumental in contributing to the Kong Gateway OSS and Enterprise product. This means not only fixing bugs and improving existing features but also actively participating in the design and development of new functionalities. Your contributions will directly influence the capabilities and user experience of our flagship products, which are trusted by Fortune 500 companies and innovative startups alike.
  • • The role demands a deep understanding of computer operating systems, with a particular emphasis on Linux system runtime and networking stacks. You will leverage your solid, hands-on low-level technical experience in Linux systems troubleshooting and profiling. This includes proficiency with debugging tools such as gdb, systemtap, tcpdump, and crash, enabling you to diagnose and resolve complex system-level issues efficiently.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Minimum of 5 years of experience in computer operating systems, with a deep understanding of Linux system runtime and networking stack.
  • • Solid hands-on low-level technical experience in Linux systems troubleshooting and profiling, including proficiency with debugging tools such as gdb, systemtap, tcpdump, and crash.
  • • Experience with public cloud providers like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • • Fluent English language skills, both written and verbal.
