📋 Description

• As a Software Engineer III on the WEX Benefits Technology team, you will serve as a senior technical contributor and anchor within your engineering team, delivering high-quality, production-ready software independently while driving architectural decisions and mentoring junior engineers to foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
• You will assess complex problems, design scalable solutions using modern technologies, and lead design sessions where you defend architectural choices to peers and leadership, ensuring all work adheres to engineering standards like TDD, BDD, and microservice architectures while leveraging AI-powered tools to accelerate development.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include designing, testing, coding, and instrumenting complex systems without guidance; mentoring SDE I and SDE II engineers through code reviews and career growth discussions; analyzing systems for bottlenecks and technical debt; supporting production applications with advanced observability; leading incident response and root cause analysis; serving as a primary code reviewer for security (OWASP), readability, and performance; and becoming a subject matter expert in your functional area.
• You will champion engineering standards, integrate AI/ML workflows into the SDLC using tools like GitHub Actions, and proactively improve system health by implementing performance enhancements and maintaining cloud-native services on Azure with Docker and Kubernetes.

• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in full-stack cloud-native development, gain hands-on experience with AI-augmented software engineering practices, and grow into a technical leader capable of influencing architecture, mentoring talent, and delivering impactful solutions at scale.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in software engineering with a proven ability to deliver complex features from concept to production independently.
• Strong proficiency in C# and Python (expert level), Angular and/or React, REST API design, and experience with modern RDBMS (MS SQL, Postgres) and NoSQL databases.
• Deep understanding of OOP, SOLID, design patterns, microservice/vertical slice architectures, Kafka/event-driven systems, and GraphQL.
• Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), Agile methodologies, and experience developing cloud-native applications on Azure using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong grasp of software security principles, OWASP guidelines, and a track record of writing comprehensive unit tests and test suites using TDD/BDD practices.
