Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Ferry Health is on a mission to revolutionize healthcare navigation, transforming a notoriously frustrating and time-consuming process into a seamless and positive experience for both patients and medical professionals. We are tackling the pervasive issues of wasted hours spent on phone calls, navigating intricate insurance policies, and wrestling with outdated scheduling systems. Our innovative AI platform is already empowering leading hospitals, insurers, and digital health companies to solve these critical challenges for their physicians and, most importantly, their patients.
- • As a Software Engineer at Ferry, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between cutting-edge Large Language Models (LLMs) and the tangible realities of the healthcare system. Your primary focus will be on enabling our AI agents to effectively interact with the real world, specifically by making automated phone calls to doctor's offices across the country to gather essential information and book appointments. This is a complex and challenging endeavor, as the healthcare ecosystem is rife with unpredictable scenarios. You will be instrumental in anticipating, predicting, and proactively addressing every potential edge case that could arise, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our patient care coordination.
- • Beyond the intricate AI interactions, you will also contribute significantly to building out user experiences that are fundamentally designed to prioritize patient outcomes over mere usage metrics. We believe in handling the heavy lifting of care coordination discreetly and effectively behind the scenes. This means our users should spend minimal time interacting with our application and maximum time receiving the care they need. Your work will directly impact the user's journey, making it as smooth and supportive as possible, ultimately leading to better health outcomes.
- • A substantial part of your role will involve scaling our sophisticated distributed systems. These systems are engineered to transform complex referrals into meticulously coordinated care pathways. Each referral initiates an elaborate pipeline that demands seamless integration of multiple data sources, the execution and processing of dozens of automated phone calls, and continuous coordination with the patient via text message. As we expand our reach to serve millions of patients, you will confront increasingly complex technical challenges related to system reliability, performance optimization, and intricate orchestration.
- • We are seeking engineers who possess excellent programming skills grounded in strong computer science fundamentals. A genuine passion for crafting user experiences that deliver tangible value and evoke a sense of delight is essential. You should possess strong communication skills, enabling you to articulate your ideas clearly and persuasively, and to make a compelling case for your technical proposals. A low-ego, collaborative mindset is crucial; we value individuals who are driven by curiosity and a desire to find the optimal solution, rather than simply being right.
- • Your technical contributions will span across a range of full-stack web development technologies. While we utilize Next.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and Terraform, we are open to candidates who can demonstrate proficiency in similar modern stacks and a willingness to learn and adapt to our specific toolset. You will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from ideation and design to implementation, testing, and deployment, contributing to a product that has a profound and positive impact on people's lives.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to work on a product that directly addresses a significant societal need. You will be part of a small, dedicated, and close-knit team of builders who are deeply committed to transforming the often frustrating and clunky experience of healthcare navigation into something truly delightful and effective. Your work will directly contribute to improving health outcomes for countless individuals, making a real-world difference.
