As a Software Engineer on our Agent team, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying production-grade AI agents that are not just functional, but mission-critical, directly contributing to Sierra's growth and success.
- • This is a unique opportunity to move beyond theoretical AI and engage with tangible, high-impact projects. You will be responsible for building and shipping highly performant, reliable, and intuitive AI agents that operate in demanding production environments across diverse industries, including finance, healthcare, and e-commerce. These are not mere prototypes; they are robust, scalable systems designed to transform how businesses engage with their customers.
- • You will own the entire Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC), from the initial conceptualization and pilot phases through to full deployment and ongoing, iterative improvement. This end-to-end ownership means you'll be actively involved in building, fine-tuning, and evolving AI agents in real-world production settings. In doing so, you will set the standard for ADLC best practices, contributing to the evolution of AI agent development methodologies.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves direct collaboration with leaders at some of the world's largest enterprises. You will immerse yourself in their most pressing business challenges, leveraging your technical expertise to design and implement AI agents that drive transformative operational changes at scale. Simultaneously, you will partner with cutting-edge startups, integrating AI agents across their entire business stack to foster innovation and enhance efficiency.
- • Your direct engagement with customers will be a key driver in shaping the future of Sierra's core platform. You will identify unmet needs, prototype innovative new tools and features, and collaborate closely with our research, product, and platform engineering teams. This cross-functional collaboration ensures that your work directly influences the strategic direction of AI agent development and Sierra's product roadmap.
- • Example projects highlight the scope and impact of this role. Engineers on our team have recently designed and built AI agents for major telecommunications and media companies, achieving performance metrics that surpass human agents in managing subscription churn. Others have developed and refined AI agents capable of navigating complex customer interactions, such as troubleshooting technical issues or delivering personalized product recommendations.
- • You will also contribute to creating generalizable AI agent frameworks tailored for industry-specific use cases, as showcased in our financial services blog. Furthermore, you'll facilitate design partnerships for new product initiatives, exploring novel agent architectures, enhancing self-service capabilities, and pioneering generative agent development. Experimentation with the latest voice models and their integration at scale for enterprise customers will also be a part of your exciting work.
